So I have 215m to build a monk, but have no idea where to start.

Would someone be able to help me build?

With this budget you can build something like my monk or even better, I built my monk with some of my DH pieces

Damn it .... just checked d3rawr
I am one isa away from next breakpoint

DPS
519775

552261 (need to add one isa)

Only place I can add one isa is my inna's pant and it will cost 300M-ish
Hugh price difference from 8 isa to 9 isa

Will the next breakpoint make enough difference to justify the cost ?
Maybe I can add one isa to my gloves... but my gloves are pretty good.
Also can't add isa to my rare ring and ammy.
Mempo is out ... dont really want inna's chest... will lose too much Ehp.

Damn Blizzard ! ! !

so i did some math and calculated out how much your aps increases per 1% asi for each break point between 3 and 4 aps.
3-3.15 is a .025% aps boost for every 1% asi need to go from 3 - 3.15
3.15 - 3.33 is .022
3.33 - 3.52 is .023
3.52 - 3.75 is .025
3.75 - 4.00 is .022

id say you have 2 choices, you can loose the 7% asi you ahve on your gloves and as long as you keep the same dex, crit dmg, crit chance since your at the same break point you wont see any actual dmg changes. with the new gloves you could get monster vita instead of attack speed.

option 2 is go for the gold and get the 9% innas while aiming to get a 9% asi ring sometime in the future so your hitting 3.75 aps.

as far as attack speed affecting how many nados you create with the diffren bp's, i calculated that out for you too.

48.5 crit chance 75% proc per hit with aoe for the first 2 hits making it 300% proc, then for the third hit being only 1 hit thats another 75.

375 * 48.5 = 181.85% chance to cast a nado per 1 combo set.

so now youd calculate combos per second.
1/3.33= 0.3 per attack so .9 sec per combo 1/.9 =1.11 so 181.85 * =201% chance to cast a nado every second.
1/3.52 = .284 *3= .852 1/.852 =1.17 so 181.85 *1.17 = 213% chance to cast a nado every second.
1/3.75 =.2666*3 = .8 1/.8= 1.25 so 1.25 *181.85 = 227.3% chance to cast a nado every second.

so at 3.33 your getting 2 nados every second.
at 3.52 your at 2 nados a second and every 8 or so seconds you cast an extra nado
at 3.75 your at 2 nados a second and every 4 seconds or less you cast an extra nado.

IMO, get some cheap 9% innas and try them out, maybe get a main res or armor. i feel the higher break point makes a big diffrent. mainly because of tele, you cycle through your combo that much quicker, which means you get back to the first attack that much quicker, which means when your shift attacking to pesue a fleeing monster or your trying to use fot/tc to perscision tele out of a group your that much quicker at it. so you spend less time in a monsters molten as you chase as well as keep a closer distance, spend less time in plauged desacrator, as an archon beams about to hit you, your quicker to tele away ect.

but ontop of this your also gaining like 36k dps which is only that much more after overawe + the extra cyclone every 8 or so seconds

then theres also the added LOH if your using any, and faster spirit back from using fot/tc.

if you try out the cheap 9% innas and your not a fan of the higher BP, then id say go with loosing the 7% asi on your gloves and getting a pair with mass life, but imo the higher BP is better.

ylem you're always talking about BPs and I know nothing about it. Can you link me a calculator or something? I wanna run my monk through it

1. d3rawr.com click on detailed ehp/dps at the top.

2. then import your profile via the profile import button on the left.

3. once your profile is imported, right above where it shows your gear, theres a Skill Damage link.

4. click this and it switches from gear to your skill stats. here it shows stats concenring Fist of Thunder/thunder clap and sweeping winds cyclone.

5. next to where it shows your fot/tc dmg there is a link called Breakpoints.

6. click this and a flash window pops up showing the break points, it shows where you are at, it shows how much ias you need to hit the next bp, and how much you can lose before you drop a breakpoint. this can be confusing as if your 1% away from the 3.52 break point where it shows where your at it will say that your aps is at 3.49 or something and you need 1% to hit the next break point. this is just what your aps would be if it wasnt for break points, this is not your actual aps. youll notice that the dmg shows the same untill you hit the next BP.

OMG ... your are awesome.
Thanks for all your info. I understand much better. I had +56asi once and loved it, but my dps took a dive.
I will for sure try the 9% inna and see what happens.
Thanks again, Dude, you rock.

you need 10% but there are alot of options with this (like getting a higer .xx fury can lower it from 10% to 9%) as well as specifics that ive found (like 10% on a weapon is closer to 8% asi on gear so you want the 10% to be from gear).

but im alittle busy, ill get back to you with alot more detail after looking over your char in about an hour.

Hi!
I was wondering if any of you monk players could help me a bit with my monk, i seem to have hit a plateau on how to upgrade it. I'm kinda torn on what to buy and what items i should replace with new ones.
Profile here: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/WeeKev-2743/hero/8790750
I don't have much gold at the moment, but i could just upgrade when i get the cash.
