One incredibly simple concept, three letters:

P. V. P.

I don't care what ANYONE says, PvP is THE end game of Diablo. And who do you think will rank better in Areans - PC gamers with fully customized peripherals or console kiddies with controllers locked into one control scheme?

A better example.. Counter-Strike on the Xbox vs Counter-Strike on the PC. Which population do you think is (exponentially) better at the top levels?

You understand that the console players will be at an EXTREME disadvantage when it comes to the end-game: duels/Arenas? And that this directly translates to not only higher and more easily attained (worldwide) PvP ranks but also more kids to buy your garbage? Obviously gold will be considerably more depreciated when D3 comes to consoles, but, and this is an admitted generalization, console gamers are a little more... "inept"... than your average PC gamer. This means (relatively) more gold for your listed items and easier duels/ranks in the new cross-platform Arenas. Granted, after a certain point, you won't get matched up with a pubscrub console kid, but early on, you'll jump ranks quick. Even if it's purely psychological, stomping some little 16 year old's mudhole in will be an incredibly enjoyable experience. Especially when he thinks he's some 1337 charliefragger, having spent 12 hours trying to use the Auction House's interface and "gearing up"... with a controller.

I understand the "over-simplification" posts, and don't entirely disagree. But regardless of subjective speculation on the whys and reasons, I'd LOVE someone to try and tell me Inferno is flat out easy. It's not. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. And when we (PC gamers) are the only ones who can feasibly and consistently run Inferno, the gear we wouldn't think twice about vendoring will soon be eaten up by morons desperate for even +10 all resistances. And that's not even taking into consideration the price gouging you can get out of pathetic 'PLZ HLP DIABLO NM - 200K TO KILL!11!' threads that will inevitably pop up all over. (not on d2jsp, but elsewhere) Think about how much they love to brag to their friends. Now think about what they'd be willing to pay for those bragging rights...

In short - I'm not arguing with anyone. I'm not even really disagreeing. But in my personal opinion, a bigger player base, regardless of its source or medium, means faster cash/gold, easier Arenas, and ultimately (and yeah I'm being a dick with this one) more people stuck in some incredibly easy/pathetic area/PvP rank for us to laugh at.

cant wait till torchlight 2 releases

I'm waiting more on GW2 personally

atleast it wont be a console based game like Diablo is.

I can atleast be sure it will never be ported to a console. Mainly because the graphics will be too good.

You'll be happy to know that Diablo 3 was setup to be a console game.

The reason only 4 players are allowed into a game is for 4 controllers.

More players would just be even more of a clusterfuck.  At some point, you only see spells effects and mobs.. nn for more players in the same game.

The reason the quests make you walk in a linear closed circuit as opposed to big open worlds. is to keep your buds next to you on the same screen.

I dont remember any ''open worlds'' in any Diablo game.

The reason for no skill points or complicated number crunching? to make console players happy.

lolwut?

The company who made D3? ACTIVISION - Known for console games.

So what?

The reason no runes / complicated shit exists. Simply wouldn't be fun for console gamers.

lolwut again?

The reason for Achievements in game? It's popular among console / COD fans.

Sc2 has achievements too.  They might have thought it would give the game a better replay value.

The reason for passive skills? Perks like Call of Duty uses.

Passive skills is a nice addition to the game, lol@ CoD reference...

Those are the first things that came to my mind when I read your post.

Well one advantage console gamers are going to have is using the Directional pad to control your avatar. while we are stuck using shit/ old mouse movement that has limitations.

When you're able to move like a W-S-A-D configuration from the Xbox control pad, then you have an advantage.

Now I know pc gamers will make mods to compensate for this but still.... We will have some disadvantages over console players.

He posted an image saying this is a troll thread. Very witty <_<

Problem is that it's not. Blizzard already hired people to make this into a console game ages ago and tons of proof in this thread about it.

Lastly. If this is a troll, Why does the official Bnet forums have many serious discussions about this topic quite frequently?

They discussed it at Blizzcon. They designed the game based on point and click. Targetting and moving items around with a controller will be awkward, and if they were designing the game for console, they would have based movement on WASD rather than clicking with the mouse, since that translates exactly to a controller. But that feels awkward and it woulda made the PC game worse so they didn't do it.

They did say that in the future the game might come out on consoles, and they were in the early stages of looking into how it could be done, because why not? The straight up said that it would be years away and it might not even happen, it's clearly not a priority.

Saying that the console version will be the main game and this is the beta is silly. It'll be a half baked port at best like Team Fortress 2 or Minecraft without many of features that make the PC game so good. I highly doubt there will even be an auction house like we see now in a console version.

Considering that MC port became the best selling titles for XBL, I dont consider that half baked.

I would call that a huge success
