So does showing hidden folders show d3prefs anyone?

This helped me play the beta but it's still laggy. Not going to play until I get a better computer.

I'm almost set to buy a new desktop but if you think this will work then I might just hold off.

Ok. So I had the same problem as many others. Someone told me if you press Esc instead of clicking OK at the screen where it says your video card is unsupported it would load. And it did... but then it just got to a full gray screen and said my video card lacked required features or something to that effect. Following the advice in the OP and setting both of those values to 1 got me past that and the game actually did start loading - the screen changed to black and I could hear the music and see the cursor... but I couldn't see anything else. Just the black screen. Even after several minutes there was still no video. It's so close to working but I have no idea how to make the video come in.

Yes, I know the beta's already done and the game's about to come out. That's why I'm trying to get it to work now as I doubt the system requirements for the full version are any different. If I get it to load I know to go buy the game at release.

Yes, I know an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 sucks even by integrated card standards and I really should get a new one but I'm trying to be cheap here and find a workaround that doesn't cost four figures. If I can get it this far there is hope. I hope. >.<
