I have two big questions to ask, and they are in regards to how to best spend gold to improve my barb.

If I had 160 mil, what should my next upgrade(s) be?

What SHOULD I upgrade, even if I need to save more gold for the next two big purchases?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, I thought so too until I compared them: Eventually Mace/Echo becomes better, however, for a 2mil sword/dagger you can get +/- 5k dps from what a 20mil echo can offer. To outdps sword/daggers you have to get in the 40m Echo range to buy the ones with str/crit/soc . Once you get into the 40M+ range Echos, then yes, an Echo will outdps sword/dagger offhand.

Edit: Also, if you can hit 2.86 with dagger/sword it will push a 2-5mil sword/dagger atleast +10kdps over the dps of what a 40-60mil str/crit/soc Echo can give you. (hitting 2.86 with sword/dagger is fairly plausible, hitting 2.86 with Echo requires everything sword/dagger had + witching hour. So it's only for very elite builds)

This would all be wrong if d3rawr was wrong, but I don't think it is.

Edit2: This is all taking into account Battle Rage and WotB.

you do know that echo is faster then a sword.. right? and is only a little slower then a dagger, also for these swords/daggers to actually give a dps increase you need a pricey crit gem in them

and ur not taking into account the fact that 2.5-2.86 compared to 2.0 or 2.2 and 2.5/2.86 aps both sides make your fury regen much better / can keep up WOTB better = more efficient

usually budget barbs are for noob barbs who are terrible at keeping fury up, so having 2.5/2.5 helps them a lot

Sword with 750 dps 8%+ ias 150 str 80% critdmg soc shouldn't be more than 2mil. That .6-.10 faster speed makes a huge difference considering it's the difference between having to use witching hour or not for 2.86 bp.

I got my 767 dps 152 str 66 dex 70 vit 8% ias 79% critdmg soc for 70k. Is 2.2/2.86 really worse regen than 2.5/2.5? I don't have problems keeping up WOTB anyways. The pricey crit gem applies to the echo too.

Maybe a 6%+ attack speed Echo with str and soc is higher dps than sword, havn't tested it. Edit: The answer is no, it's str/crit/soc with witching hour or bust and for that you already need a very elite barb.

going for 2.86 isnt smart on a budget even with a 1.5 base weapon, you just sacrifice too much.

What do you sacrifice?

Lacunis Inna's Trifectas Rings Mempo

the only thing that really hurts is the inna's, but you gain a lot of dps for what is only a maybe 100 vit 70-100 str loss. (mentioning the str despite big dps gain because str does provide some ehp)

since DPS doesnt matter much on offhand it will stay the same, that is if this nerf happens.

Personally dont like IK set / unforgiving, and I have heard rumours that the fury gained from it doesnt count towards WOTB timer, if thats true then its horrible to have

and, you need more ias, you need 34% ias from gear to hit 2.5/2.5 breakpoints

Mace MH / EF OH is the best DPS wise, and less fear procs

how much ias do i need from other items when using mace + ef ?

/e

just founded another topic with ias bps
sorry ^^

innas, trifecta is not budget. and you wont have enough resists/armor with that gear, i make balanced barbs

the only difference compared to other barb builds you make would be the inna's and maybe the trifectas and you can get decent trifectas with 80ish vit for 10mil>

Is, at any point, better to use a SWORD (15% dmg) than a MACE/AXE (10%cc) as MainHand?

Trifectas with just vit? Or trifectas with avg dmg/str/vit? Even searching for 7/4/x trifecta with just vit is 13m+. And it's pure garbage. You can kiss that 5k dps increase goodbye if you fail to get avg dmg and str on your rings.

Your whole argument is flawed because you're claiming some sort of budget restrictions without actually saying what the restrictions are. What's our budget? You can't compare weapons in a vacuum because Mace/Dagger or Mace/Sword will require different ias than Mace/EF. The whole point of this exercise is, considering some reasonable budget, the CHD you supposedly gain from your rare OH will be lost in your jewelry when you need to compensate for the increased ias.

Also, linking to a damage calc doesn't prove anything. You have to show us what gear you shoved in there and what it all cost. Then, we can compare and try to build a different one with the same budget restrictions. Waving your hand and saying "you can get decent trifectas with 80ish vit for 10mil>" doesn't make it true, or even define what "decent" is.

Are you high? Search for sword or dagger 8ias/150str/80chd/os and you certainly won't find something sub 2m. I even searched for 8/130/70chd/os and cheapest sword was 5m and dagger was 14m. Again, what is our actual budget here that we're arguing over?

Not to mention that an 8% ias sword doesn't even sync with 1.2 mace. For 8% ias sword (1.51 speed), you would need 50% ias to hit 2.86, and you need 46% with 1.2 mace to hit 2.22. You should be aiming for 11% ias sword for 1.55 speed for better sync. Still, 46% ias over 33-35% is a big difference on a budget, of which of course you still haven't told us.
