Also you can channel almost infinitely using:

Bat
Night Bane SP
Preparation Hatred replenish rune

The crits will keep your discpline up with night stalker, night bane and bat will make you channel longer with fast regen and prep = instant hatred regen to keep the channel up.  Thing with this build is you have to be very careful, if your slightly off timing you'll lose the channelling and it'll mess up everything lol.  (Initial cost of rapid fire is like 1/5 of your orb).


I don't think you understand how good Spike Traps (specially with Custom Engineering) is good for EFFECTIVE DPS -- You can put down spike traps and bola shit down while spike traps blow up and you regain hatred -- that is TWO high damage DH skills working together at once to cause the greatest amount of damage in the shortest time possible.

Rapid Fire will never match this because you can only attack with one skill.

To add to the point above the proc rate of rapid fire is very low. Even with legacy nats and Night Stalker I could not muster enough disc to maintain rapid fire/punishment let alone that eventhough rapid fire snapshots SP you still have to cast it once in a while either because you move or you just straight up fuck up

They are also reducing the hatred cost, you should be able to keep up rapid fire without punishment after the patch

night bane/bat you should have no problem keeping resources up as long as your at like 50% crit, but ya its really hard to do, your timing has to be exactly right, 1 mess up and its hard to recover.

This is true, it should definitely make the Rapid Fire upkeep a lot more relaxed.

I will try this but I imagine it will be hard to maintiain my EHP at a high enough point without bringing my DPS down from 400k+ unbuffed with soj so that Shadow Power/Gloom is not necessary.

-- I still believe that regardless of being able to keep up perma rapid fire or not (even with the new cost/damage changed) it will still not do as much effective damage as the Bola Shot/Spike Trap Combo.

But of course I will have to test and post a video of the findings once the PTR updates!

Post some rapid fire skill specs for me to test please!

I think that the fire support rune will be better for ubers.

The real problem is the 20 hatred initial cost, it makes impossible to cast it a lot of times while farming (with the aoe rune because that's the only viable rune for killing more than 2 enemies)

I'm just farming for DE when I have the time to play, so I won't test too much on PTR, so I'll thank you the video.
Don't forget to test with different attack speeds.

So I picked up a legacy nats set. Not the best one out there but I've always wanted to have one and there is enough pieces still on ah to allow upgrades.

What are currently the best builds for DH's? Haven't played one since 1.04. I'd like a nice balance of EHP and DPS. What item's should I be shooting for to combine with that legacy set? Danetta/calamity/windforce/manticore? Lot's of choices to be made. Please help me out.

I don't mind farming lower mp's solo for exp but with friends I usually play higher mp's, usually with my shield barb who is really well geared. I don't expect the same results on DH damage wise but I do wanna stay alive there hence the balance between dps and ehp.
