Just duelled Orvar a bit, and LLD is by far much more fun than HLD. ^^

I'm still not the biggest fan of the arena, but who cares

I think they're an issue with LLD'ing in general. Life sustainability has a high reward compared to the little to no risk your character gets. A witch doctor with say 10k life can reach 180 life regen per second without even trying. Now this isn't news for anyone, but after dueling a bunch of times, I doubt 5 minutes to endless duels is what people want... Before I come up with what I think should be done let's put this into perspective. A wd going against a dh (both with ranged and sustain) that could make for a decent duel even with the rep since they can technically both reach and damage  each other at anytime, BUT when you play a wd or a dh against a monk, or a barb, it becomes a run fest. Monks and barbs both have a very high burst but if they can't 1 hit people with them (which nobody wants), then the ranged character just starts to run after they've been damaged, replenish back to full hp then continue fighting. The problem with this method is that the regen is so constant and high that the melee's cooldown can't keep up with it so unless you get a lucky ground stomp or 7-sided strike, the ranged characters won't die. Controller, you can vouch for this when your monk doesn't get dmg'd with your breath of life / passive / spirit regen and me with my outrageous amount of regen/haunt/spirit walk.

I think we have a number of solutions we can look into. All of which should be considered I think:

1- Allow for higher quality gems in weapon (the new patch increased the ruby in the weapon by so much that it would probably double or even triple your dmg, making rep less of a pain since you vcan eat through their life orb as fast as they can regen).
----- That's a solution I highly disagree with since monks already can pretty much ALMOST 1-hit-ko anyone with a well placed seven sided strike. So if we allow that kind of gem, it would HIGHLY benefit those with high burst moves like monks.

2- Ban life % regen passives
----- I think this is a better solution than the last one, but it still has it's disadvantages. Controller pointed out that if someone would focus all it's gears on high rep (10-15 rep on each piece) then someone could exceed 100 life regen, making it as problematic as before. Another issue is that Monks don't have life % regen, but they do have an incredible amount of ehp with all of their healing spells, like breath of life and transcendence (with possibly life on spirit spent from gears or mantra of healing). So if we were to ban life % regen passives, monk would remained untouched and still almost unkillable.

3- Ban all form of regen (gears, passives, hp gains from active skills like breath of life) with a few exceptions
----- The exceptions would be for instance "dont look for life rep on your gears, but if you found this awesome pair of gloves with 5-10 rep on it, its fine" as long as it isnt a big amount, it isn't a problem. The thing here would be to ban all the big healers, like life % regen passives, breath of heaven and life rep focused gears. the small amount of hp gained back from life on spirit spent, 20 hp tick on haunt, spirit walk, revenge would all be fine as long as your not focused on sustainability.

For now that's all I can think of so if you have any counter arguments / if I missed something / you have another solution just let us know. We're a community, this is a group choice.




I have been dueling on the ptr, melee vs ranged and regen seem to be a big problem for the lvl 30s duels. I did some testing with higher quality gems and it seemed to balance it out a bit more, the dmg vs regen seemed to work out a bit better. people need to test higher gems in just weapons (not gear) I think. nerfing half the abilities and checking everyones regen seems a bit counter productive imo.

Just did some duels with Xtascy and I definitely see something with only restricting gems in armor and allowing up to radiant stars in weapons... my monk vs his barb we could go on for several minutes but when we switched to rad stars they were competetive 30-60 second duels. not one shotting at all but still competetive and intense

radiant stars in weapon is +120/ +120 though? thats obscene.
