Oh, so I guess you dont mind the 40$ every time a exp pack comes out. But a continous montly fee.... oh shit!!!!!!!!
The thing is, a recurring fee doesn't make sense in the case of Diablo 3. Why would we pay monthly? So 3 random people can join our game? We'll be doing the same things we can do offline, for free. If we should pay $15 a month for Diablo 3, then we should pay it for Starcraft 2, CoD, Halo: Reach, anything! The idea is absurd.
Also, expansions are cheaper in the long-term and easier to judge. I could pay $15 a month as they trickle in content that I may or may not like, or they drop a huge expansion that, if I don't find anything that interests me, I can skip over. Not to mention a $60 expansion for D3 will easily take them 12-18 months to drop, that is far cheaper than paying $15/month to kill Andariel and run Travincal a bunch of times.
*Edit* You also have to consider value. D3 will be a wonderful game, but for $60, there is going to be limited content. Like D2, I'll bet the game will focus on late game repetitive runs. Considering that this isn't much better than just killing people on Halo/CoD online all day or playing any number of fantastic MMOs for free, D3 isn't going to be "worth" 15$ a month.
