"necessary" is not really right.
its cool to have, but my archon is the most time longer then 2 minutes active, so there is no need for apoc.

It's useful

It's like ll it's a preference but its a benefit you can really ignore

maybe you missed out on the main point of my contention

apoc is necessary (for good, mobile archons)
apoc is necessary (for future-proofing your gear)
apoc is necessary (for farm efficiency)

apoc is not necessary (for archons with sufficient dps, who don't give a shit about only moving at 12/24ms)
apoc is not necessary (for archons who don't care about efficiency)
apoc is not necessary (for those who only want burst, and those who only care about their playstyle in 1.0.4.)

so yes.

it's a preference.

Im getting confused here. "apoc" is Arcane Power on Crit right?? I am confused how this improves Archon builds as you don't actually use Arcane Power while in Archon. And why is it more valuable for 1.0.5? I have been reading this topic since it was created but this last week has confused me

when archon is on cooldown u wann reduce its cooldown time with the passive critical mass. Using energy twister when u crit , can reduce the cd time of archon in a matter of seconds because the proc modifiers of the twisters where so high.

Once the extremly high proc coeffienct of stromchaser will be reduced in 1.05 u need much more twisters to have the same cooldown effect . Twisters cost plenty arcane power, thus u need to regain arcane power with apoc and u do it simultaneously when u crit

it improves archon builds by minimizing archon downtime. i have 170k unbuffed DPS, but purposely LEAVE archon (even though the duration is extremely long) to move around using wormhole

it's necessary for GOOD, MOBILE archons
unnecessary for archons who don't give a shit about moving around

apoc is not a must , but it will definetly help u spamming more twisters to compensate the proc loss. Don't have apoc? As someone already mentioned , u can buy a crap item with apoc (source for example) spam until archon is ready and then swap to your dps source , a bit annyoing but it does the job as well for anyone who is on a low budget right now.

thanks for the reply, might think of this way to save budget.

so i been testing the ptr server now and it seems like that only mistral breeze is the solution , due to lower arcane costs + apoc u spam 30 twisters and u are good to go again (archon built), works even when your archon went off and a pack suddenly arrives spam thosse twisters within 5 secs u are good to go again

monster lvls forget lvl 6-10 , its just sick

died 30 times on lvl 10 until i killed a champian pack those spearman , lvl 5 is managable maybe 6 or even 7 but i am feeling quite comfortable with lvl 4 currently (230 k dps and 2, 9 ll). The force armor prismatic nerf isnt too out of control , but my armor just went down damn hard due to the double enchentress and force armor nerf . High lvl monsters hit pretty damn hard. So stocking up armor will be a very good idea...

those are my impressions for now , still testing ...

it should be quite obvious that archon builds are not suitable for high monster levels. on the other hand, a high-end archon wiz can probably handle mlvl 3-4 with an extremely high efficiency.

how much apoc?

really? 5 seconds? that's very manageable.

230 with which buffs? (i'm 170~ unbuffed)
