You know there is such a thing as selling a shitload of copies because it's riding on the D2 fame. Player retention is what matters. Everyone jumped ship real fast.
You're not the first person to have issues getting into PoE. If you're an actual ARPG fan, then you probably just have issues getting started and can't figure stuff out. If you're just a gaming fan in general, D3's appeal is how casual friendly it is. Everything's force fed to you. Some people like that I guess, but there's just no replay value whatsoever. It's a fun playthrough, don't get me wrong. Kinda like playing a Portal game. You have fun, but you have fun ONCE. Everything is too simplified. It's just the same few numbers getting higher as you level up. No effort, no difficulty, retarded rewards, no customization. It's a game for people who enjoy not having to give a fuck.
ive played path of exile and enjoyed it but the skill trees complex for me i liked the diablo2 skilltree tbh. and ive logged so many hours in d3 since 2013 its not funny lol. actually with all the seasons and patches there is replay value its obviously to me u dont play d3 and havent in a long time lol.
theres difficulty getting that perfect rolled gear and pushing highest grifts and getting all the cosmetic items and pets. people love being on the leader board getting that max paragon, we might have less content than poe but d3 is actually alot better than when it first came out minus the trading issue.
