That's a matter of opinion. And I agree, I don't think it should/will be pay-to-play. But with what was said mid-October at Blizzcon, it's still an uncertainty.

How does the fact that the game is not an mmo support your argument of D3 not being p2p? Xbox live is obviously not an mmo, or even a game, and it requires a monthly charge, so I don't understand how you can use that as support.

imo, it doesnt need to be pay to play. there are other, better models such as making SOME features pay to play. for example, the advanced mule system or more character slots can be features that people might pay fore while others have less chars/have to mule ingame again as in d2 etc.

and it would stay fun for all players, those that are pro p2p and those that are against it.

If you cannot provide a link to something that is more recent than Blizzcon, then we don't have any solid information on the matter.

At Blizzcon, one of the lead designers directly said that they cannot confirm nor deny whether North America will have to pay to play. He said it's a case-by-case scenario (based on massive regions), whether Diablo 3 will be pay-to-play. I would assume North America is considered "one region" by Blizzard's standards.

You can't use a gaming console to compare with a video game.
I don't have an XBox, but paying for XBox Live allows for internet for all games, am I right?

To be honest, your argument is a much weaker support than his.
