Ok guys let get this straight.

If you QQ about paying 10$-15$ a month to pay to play for a game, I think your living in like 1995 first of all.

The reason im saying this is, I dont want Diablo 3 to end up like Diablo 2.  I.E, scammmers, bots, cheat, hacks, dupes, spam, non english speakin people who are geting paid 1$ a week in a sweatshop because we want that bad ass item.

Ill go into detail.  When a company stops selling there game in mass amounts, they no longer are making decent $$ to support that game, whatever it may be. So charging a small amount every month gives them ability to support it, and solve the problems such as cheaters, viruses, hacks, gold farmers wtf ever...... AND ADD NEW CONTENT, AND FIX THE OLD OFC :)

I personally also wouldnt want the guild wars approach either,...... coming out with an expansion every time someone cries so they can support there non paying game.

If Diablo 3 is not pay to play, I give it a few months before it turns into the shit hole that d2 did.

Opinions? Flames? Donations :) ?

There's going to be at least 1 expansion to the game. Likely 2 expansions.

They'll charge $60 each. Total investment will be $120-$180, depending on the number of expansions.

For that amount of money they'll be able to run it jusssst fine.

Besides they'll make money on the side selling items. They won't ever officially admit to it though.

okay, first off, they are gunna sell the game retail value probably for around 60-80 bucks just like with starcraft 2. They will probably add multiple expansions just like with SC2 as well. there is no reason for them to make it P2P especially when they are rackin up the dough with WoW Cataclysm. You are retarded.

I love how the only period in this entire post was used incorrectly. Lol

Games can make money without pay to play. As stated before, some games, like your example of Guild Wars, have in-game stores that cost real world cash and allow for enough income over the years to keep up mantenaince. I also don't believe that pay to play would do anything to stop bots, and especially not scammers, etc.

thats the worst post of all
if you want to make a game shitty as hell then let people pay real money for items that are better then the ones that you can find
everygame i know with that in-game stores are free mmorpg that you download exept for guild wars that you even have to buy
just let the game cost 60$ enogh people will buy it so there will be a nice time before bots... bla come and then in a year or two
if the money is short they will bring out a expansion that cost 60$ and then there is another time that bots wont work
no p2p no in-game stores just let it be a Diablo game you pay once have 10 years fun

I'm not entirely sure what your counter-point to mine was there. I wasn't saying that in-game stores are my favorite thing in the world. I was just saying that a lot of games use them for profit. In most, they don't usually sell powerful items in the stores either. Its usually superfluous clothing, add-ons, etc. that aren't needed but are still valued that don't really serve a purpose. Also, a new expansion doesn't really stop bots. At all. But that wasn't my point anyway, so....
