sorry for asking so many questions, but the only main hands with 1.4 speed i'd be able to afford have 950ish dps is it bad to get a spear or mace if it has over 1k dps?
www.theasiangamer.com can tell your exactly DPS with either weapon. Generally speaking, at around 45% crit chance, 1 min/max dmg = 1.5 dex, 1 crit damage = 4 dex, so 50 dps difference would equal about 50 min and 50 max damage, which is 150 dex-worth of difference, which is around 38% crit damage.

what's the magic number of DPS you should have to make the jump from loh to life steal on your typical FoT/Sweeping Wind monk?
Well... for a single target, to get 900 LOH, you need about 1800 life back per second (if you attack at 2/sec)... there's an 80% inferno nerf on life steal, so you really only get 3% * 20% = 0.6%
1800 / 0.006 = 300,000 dps is needed to get 900 LOH. However, keep in mind that cyclones generates about 120% more dps than your paper DPS and LOH gets nerfed by proc rates (ie. you really only get a portion of your LOH for multi-hitting skills).
Anyway, from personal experience, I started with 1200 LOH until 40K dps, then I went to 2.9% LS and 600 LOH until now. People say LS becomes better at 80K dps, but I think that's for other classes. Monks have way more off-sheet dps.
