I switched to Skorn for the tempest rush build but with the higher MP it just isn't worth it anymore. Wanted to switch back to dual wield, but every DPS calculation I make is telling me I should maybe stick to 2 handed...

And my problem here is that I loose DPS for going back to dual wield... of course I would switch back no question asked if I were to rock the same sheet DPS... hence my dilemma here : dual wield with lower dps OR 2 handed with more dps...

if the calculations in the link i posted before is correct dualwielding only have 2 advantages imo.

1. more spirit regen = more manta spam = more dmg if you are using conviction mantra. (if you are using 2h just use chant of resonance and you can spam mantra every 4th second = no dmg gain with dw)
2. more ministuns from FoT.

I mean the dmg depends on which dual wield weapon that you choose to use. Get better weapons?

I currently have no issue spaming mantra with my skorn setup (lot of IAS gear but spirit generation is fine without the need to use chant of resonance. I use 4 pieces inna for free SW which helps ALOT).

So basically my conclusions are :

- Given the same DPS, and if you have similar MH and OH DPS, dual wield will result in more benefit overall than slower 2 handed.
- If you have big gap between MH and OH DPS, offsheet dps "might" be affected more or less significantly if casting SW with the OH (2 handed is 100% consistent for that matter)
- Loosing DPS might not be worth it. DPS is DPS... no mather or it is spreeded accross time

So I will just wait til I find better weapons that could match current DPS.

not always and option if you have limited budget :)

but what i said was that if you have 2x 1-handers. both have 1100 dps. one is 1.2 aps and other is 1.5 aps.
Then you will get more dmg if you activate sweeping wind when the 1.2aps one is the "currently equiped" weapon. dont know how to explain it but since you alternate weapons while using FoT always start mantra when you are "using" the slow one.

"1) The damage done by Cyclones is set at the time you activate Sweeping Wind and does not change until Sweeping Wind is deactivated."

"For the first weapon, you would have approximately 0.5 Cyclones spawn per second (1 attack per second * 50% crit chance). Since each Cyclone does a total of 120 damage (20 damage * 6 attacks over 3 seconds), you are gaining 60 damage per second on average from Cyclones (0.5 Cyclones per second * 120 damage per Cyclone)."

"For the second weapon, you would have approximately 1.0 Cyclones spawn per second (2 attack per second * 50% crit chance). Since each Cyclone does a total of 60 damage (10 damage * 6 attacks), you are gaining 60 damage per second from Cyclones (1.0 Cyclones per second * 60 damage per Cyclone)."

"If we "set" our damage with our slow main hand weapon, Cyclone will be hitting for 20 damage per shock again, for 120 total damage. Our overall attacks per second is now 1.5 however, which makes our Cyclones spawned per second 0.75 (1.5 APS * 50% Crit). So Cyclones are adding 90 DPS on average (120 dmg * 0.75). This is more than just this weapon alone."

"If we "set" our damage with our fast off-hand weapon, Cyclone will be hitting for 10 damage per shock with a total of 60 damage. Again, our overall attacks per second is 1.5 and we are getting 0.75 Cyclones per second. Cyclone is only adding 45 DPS in this situation (60 * 0.75). This is less than with just this weapon alone."

*Edit - assuming that guy us correct.

explained here : http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6202181225?page=1

If you recall, the damage of SW and Cyclone is "set" based on which hand is active when you use the ability. Let's see what happens when our active weapon is both of the ones in this example. If we "set" our damage with our slow main hand weapon, Cyclone will be hitting for 20 damage per shock again, for 120 total damage. Our overall attacks per second is now 1.5 however, which makes our Cyclones spawned per second 0.75 (1.5 APS * 50% Crit). So Cyclones are adding 90 DPS on average (120 dmg * 0.75). This is more than just this weapon alone.

If we "set" our damage with our fast off-hand weapon, Cyclone will be hitting for 10 damage per shock with a total of 60 damage. Again, our overall attacks per second is 1.5 and we are getting 0.75 Cyclones per second. Cyclone is only adding 45 DPS in this situation (60 * 0.75). This is less than with just this weapon alone.

Conclusion and Gear Recommendations

So what does this mean in terms of gear?Well, it means you need to make a decision. How committed are you to always checking which weapon you have active before you use Sweeping Wind?If you want to maximize your DPS no matter what and are committed to always making sure your main hand is active, equipping a slow, high DPS mace/spear in your main hand and a fast dagger in your offhand provides the highest DPS possible. It does, however, come at a slight loss of spirit and LoH regen due to your slower attack speed. Plus, if you mess up and your dagger is active, you lose a lot of damage from Sweeping Wind/Cyclone.

Is Rehwyn from Blizzard?

Saw your "edit" Falt, not trying to a jerk here but nothing's confirmed, really. Just speculating.

This also makes it a very good idea to active blind - faith in the light BEFORE you active sweeping wind vs ubers for example. (where you can keep it upp all the fight even w/o 4 innas)
