they have tons of crit chance too, so theres like 443609 tornadoes out giving them life steal too

I have 44.5% crit chance at the moment. Is it a lot of not? I don't know what the benchmark number for it.

But I do make shit load of tornadoes in fights. haha

Question to you high dps-ers.

I only have 3% lifesteal right now. I won't get more than that for sure.

What do you guys think about 2.5% or 2.7% comparing to 3% lifesteal. Would it make a huge difference in terms of getting the life back?

I'm trying to look for a better offhand that would buff my dmg by 15k-20k and it seems like 3% lifesteal ones are much more expensive than the little bit lesser ones.

Checked the top 20 monks and some of them have only 2.7% without any other life sources.

Thanks in advance. :D

Monks rule!

Well I would never go under 5.2% as i have now, even that's not enough versus some certain elites with reflect, it's sure those guys with 300-400 resistances, 30-40k life and 250k+ dps and have only 2.5% steal are getting their anuses prepared and lubed quite quickly.

I'm getting 5000-19 000 life returns as green numbers and well, it's not enough sometimes :)

If getting lucky and there's not much reflect damages around it's very easy then, can do anything, 10 arcanes, horde of moltens etc, nothing matters, just if it doesn't have reflect on it, can stand in the middle and keep mouse1 pressed until screen is clear :) And like said before, i really don't get why some certain reflect monsters actually reflect the damage back and some do not

What I do against the reflects on +mp8 is to try to separate them in fights.

I think when I hit 3-4 of reflect elite mobs at the same time, it hurts me a lot, but even with my 3% lifesteal, I don't really have much problem with reflects.

It just needs more work to get the job done. But yeah, obviously 5.2% is much better than 3%, that's for sure. :D

I just wo'nt have that much since I don't want to give up my EF.. I maybe just pick up a very nice rare weapon with high dps/dex/crit/lifesteal/os, but nah. I like the look of EF too much. LOL

Thanks for the feedback tho. Always appreciated.

Separating is good idea, had to do it few times today, but for some reason one crap skull cleaver got me almost killed 3 times, every hit took me from 50k hp -> 2000 :D Usually it works just fine when hitting only single targets.

I thought if there's somekind of armor rating on monsters, like players have, that some monsters have lower armor, so you deal more damage to them -> more damage reflected, but it's propably not that, because sometimes the same elites hurt, sometimes not

You are right. Some reflects ones just do more dmg for some reason. I have no idea why though. haha

Just did a uber run with a friend at a lunch time. SB's reflect gave me trouble. LOL Didn't know 400 loh make a difference. bahaha Cute.

Anyway, my monk feels so much stronger with 25k more dmg. Cyclones everywhere!

Yeah the cyclones do actually pretty much of damage, when i started 1.05 with that garbage Skorn, i had more dps than my old 2x 1 handers had, but eventho my dps went a bit lower, killing speed went faster, as there is like 1/3 less tornadoes around with slow weapon like Skorn is :p

I'm looking for useful discussion of what gear I should upgrade, so this may veer off into TL;DR territory.

Here's my current monk:  http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Maniacal-1981/hero/13154991

I was indecisive for a while over whether to use the boots/ring slot for 2-pc new Nats for the 7.0 cc or if I should go with Zuni boots for the 7-8% poison on a black damage MH and then pick up a rare ring or SoJ.  I'm currently toying around with the Zuni boots option, but haven't quite made a decision.  Since I'm already stuck on a black MH due to the Inna's belt that I need to preserve set bonus for sweeping wind, it seemed reasonable to try the Zuni boots out.  Opinions?

Additionally, what pieces of gear should I upgrade next, and what sort of stats should I be targeting?  I know my HP and resist are low right now (33.5k and 650), so I'm aiming to improve, but I am wondering what heuristics exist for target values for a good monk.  I've noticed that I don't like being much below 700 AR, but for HP I've got less of a set point in mind... is 40k a safe lower target?  35k?

Finally, how exactly does cyclone work and how does its damage scale?  The duration of the cones seems to be constant, and they are produced from critical hits only of some subset of possible attacks (spirit generators?).  The damage they do is dealt as ticks over time... is the rate of this affected by ias, and, if so, how many ticks do I get for certain ias ranges?  Is it based solely off of MH weapon speed, or is it based off of aps?  I've been trying to reason through how cyclone damage should be calculated into a statsheet, but haven't reached any conclusion yet.  Any good resource or discussion of this would be very appreciated.  The obvious thing is that more cc means more cones, more cd affects cone damage in conjunction with cc, and ias allows for more cones to proc (but may also affect the cone damage output, making it nonlinear in effective dps as opposed to linear in statsheet dps), but I can't reason exactly how to model cone damage.  It seems like prioritizing cc over both ias and cd is correct, but finding the right ias/cd balance is proving to be tricky, mostly because I don't actually understand how my character works.

Sorry if this is addressed elsewhere in this thread... I admittedly have not read all of it.

Wait, I'm not sure that's how the psn damage on Zunis works. Is that true?

Remember that crit scales with crit dmg. The more cdmg you have, the more effective crit is. Really, cdmg is the most important dps stat in the game (barring avg dmg modifiers and weapon dps). It's basically a LARGE flat dmg increase. Once you get a decent aps, you don't really need to prioritise ASI.

As for cyclone ticks, I thought it was flat and based on weapon dmg, not aps. Not sure

The ticks seem constant. I have a 2-H and regular build with cyclones, but the cyclone itself seems the same. Damage is based off of the paper dps stat on your character sheet. Therefore, any temporary boost in dps can be "captured" by sweeping winds upon its activation. As for how to model cone damage, you can do it by picking out a large act boss, then time your kill. I read randomly somewhere that cyclones add 90%+ to our paper dps, but I don't know the source nor the reasoning behind it.

I must comment though, that IAS makes a huge difference. If you simply try a run with a spirit generator other than fists of thunder, you'll see a huge difference in run speed. Way of 100 fists: blazing fists is supposed to have a higher dps output over time, but even when combined with cyclone, it simply doesn't match up to fists of thunder.

Do you guys use DR/Foresight? I love the flat dmg increase. And if you have decent dmg, the increase is pretty large.

I always get foresight buff/boh buff and then pop the cyclones. It makes huge difference in cyclone dmg.
