Is anyone here using a stormshield with their "sword and board" monk? I found one today, strength is the main roll, but it also got 118 dex, 71 all res, +9% chance to blow (32% total), reduces damage from melee attacks by 6%, and reduces damage from elites by 6%. My random roll went to a second main stat, I wasn't lucky enough to get crit chance, but I thought it might be a good start for a new sword and board monk. What do you guys think?
A stormshield will never be an end-game piece for monks. We have few offensive skills and passives, so we have to milk all our slots for dps. Optimal builds use a minimal amount of defense. That being said, a monk will only use a stormshield in the early stages of their progress when you really need the defense, ie. when you first hit inferno. Exceptions can be made for shields if they have 10% crit and like 300 dex, but even then, an offhand will net you a higher dps
