I have tried using a few different dps calculators ..... confusing
I am trying to increase dps by switching to new weapons.

Current:

EF
996 dps
150 dex
+.21 as
56 crit dmg

Fist
900 dps
175 dex
70 crit dmg

If I get something between 800 - 850 dps (hopefully with little bit of dex)
80 ish natural crit
os with 100 crit gem

How much dmg would I roughly gain ?
I am hoping for 10K ? maybe ?

Use that d3dps.com one. I've been using that one for awhile.

You just gotta plug in your dex (primary attribute) / as / min-max dmg from jewelry / crit % / crit dmg

and min-max dmg / aps / bonus aps (.21 in your case) from your mainhand

and min-max dmg / aps / bonus aps (leave it blank) from your offhand

The Total DPS number should be identical to your on-screen dmg number.

When you are done with all these, you should try messing with the weapon dmg numbers to see how dmg you would gain or lose by changing out the new weapon.

this is mine.

this is my numbers. it's like 99% accurate most of the times.

Found the error. I had 2396 dex, not 2399.

See? It's 100% accurate! haha

Now when you get your numbers filled in like this, look at the weapon that you are trying to get. Get the min-max dmg on it, punch in those numbers on the right column.

Then check if the weapon gives you more dex or less dex when you swap it with the existing weapon. And same thing for the crit dmg on the weapon.

And I would look for the chest armor that has similar stats with +armor affix. Something like 700-800 armor. It's hard to find though. I've been trying to get one around 150mil for it, but there's no such thing exist on AH or something.. can't find it.

But yeah, I feel like having around 120-130k unbuffed dmg with all res of +750/+6000 armor should be good enough to legitimately fight in mp10 games.

I had 120k unbuffed dmg with 300k ehp before and now I sold my weapon and have like 90k unbuffed dmg with 550k ehp. It feels soooo much better. Now that I have to pick up a gg mainhand with chest armor should make my monk feel good.

Yeah people exaggerate with wanting so much dps. I'm able to do great with 96k... All I need is more survivability. I'm having a hard time finding upgrades that wont make me lose life/res.

Yeah, I mean if you want to do +mp7 comfortable at a decent pace, you should definitely get more dmg. 100k isn't cutting it fast enough.

But I'm planning to play in +mp7 games for lvling / farming anyway. haha so I'd rather save those gold and just enjoy the game. No reason to blow 100-200 mill gold on a single piece of gear for me. :D

i am farming with my monk on mp7, keys + organs, works very well: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Fenix-2546/hero/9873848

i love the fear proc + the butchers proc, both work on keywardens and uberbosses

took me some time to hadle kulle and his fat friend, but now it works fine ;)

edit: my next upgrade will be a new amulet with higher cc/cd, more dex and more res

Need help with upgrades:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/gnarx-1439/hero/16696564

I know I need new weapons but I am not sure how to not lose a ton of dex and life on hit with what I currently have. Is it worth lowering my dex if I'm picking up more crit damage? I have 130mill gold and scared to waste it on stuff that will put me worse off.

ok so i'm kinda confused

this is my monk:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/bark-1191/hero/8498405

it isn't completely accurate as i have a different ring (instead of hellfire) that put me at about 92k dps.. and today I just bought a nat's ring which puts me at 98k dps (which I haven't tested yet, but anyway)

I can handle myself decently well doing ubers in MP5.. I die occasionally but generally do ok. In MP6 similar, but die more often. In MP7 I feel like I'm completely useless and basically just get owned.

What I don't get is that plenty of monks with similar stats to me seem to be doing fine.. What am I missing?

DPS I have about 95k unbuffed, ~38k hp, 730 resist all with OWE, 730 life on hit.

Like in the Ghom fight in particular I feel like I melt, and hte only way I can live is by only engaging on serenity cooldown..

What is my problem here? Do I need life steal instead? or more LOH? or add life regen?
