trading, ladder resets, dueling, and the option for unique builds/replay-ability.
D3 has none of that - aside from "season resets" which are useless because no dueling, trading, economy, unique builds/replay-ability.
D2 is alive for the simple reason that it's a great game. Plenty of games with trading haven't made it a tenth as long as our lord and savior D2.
I can counter you on most of the d2 stuff.
A lot of the players have turned to modding pvp.
Dueling builds are extremely limited outside of the typical tpk variant nec/sin/barb/druid builds which dominate most builds outside of their zone.
Ladder resets are ruled by botters once they hit a certain point.
Yeah you can have some fun with it but everyone is so busy botting for pvp levels whats there really to do?
Theres the zeal/bvb/lld scenes outside your usual stuff but its either modded pk or tpk tryhards that ruin it for casuals trying out some fun builds.
I had loads of fun with d2 but modding hdins with the latest and greatest ruined public games for me.
