I heard he got axed because of poor reviews/perception of a black hero in their target market.

when you'll finish your studies and start to understand how economics works, you'll have a mature point in all of this.
Almost every company in the world now perform studies on perception. The same goes for me, even if i work in a very small reality so you can imagine how it is in bigger companies.

in the 80's the chromatic study was already a thing, now everything is magnified from this side, with full teams that work on this aspect.
Obv, political and environmentall (when applicable) impact are the most sensitive, ethical is just slightly after and then everything else.

For example: MCU, that is by far the more profitable film company of last few years, totally twisted Dr Strange characters only to increase share on China.
Ancient One would have been Tibetan but due to poor reviews/perception in a huge market like China, they made it a irish female or something like that.
There are tons of example like this.

I can understand in your fable world things are different but i promise you that when you'll grow you'll get the point.
Obv no need to forge ahead, take your time and enjoy your naivety as far as you can, we all know mama will pay for your microtransaction anyway

Glad to see that you understand how companies operate. You should therefore also understand that the company scammed the original fanbase with D3.

- The shift to colorful cartoonish art was obviously done to try to appeal to a wider audience and with console in mind.
- The axing of basically everything that gave depth to the game.
- No pvp

I'd like to know how many hours they studied and talked in meetings on how they could still keep the core fanbase on board.
The fanbase had to be conned and the job was given to the community managers with all of their "this game is great for all" talk as we have seen it.

Also stuff like:
- PvP announced and shown at bli$$con, we know how that went down.
- Stuff like talisman and charms revealed/teased BUT not included on release, more or less promised for xpac, never materialized.
- CM bashiok stating just before release that there were many things in the game they hadn't even talked about yet.

You understand companies and can therefore surely see why D3 can be called a scam and why Bli$$ard's reputation has gone down the drain. No need to deny any of that anymore, ty men

I never told D3 is the righteus descendant of D2. D2 is better and this won't change
What i usual says is that D3, took as another game and for not long timeframe is fun to play. I like to play 2-3 weeks per season, try some new build, get the sh!ts done and then migrate to something else until new season.

Unfortunately it often happens that development team of a project and the next one is not the same.
in these cases there could be or not the will of follow a path, but everything is done following what shareholders want.
That said, while i can agree with some of the things usually posted, it's totally nonsense talk aboud j.wilson and other guys, when it's clear that he has literally zero decisional power.

concerning the first part of your post, also i'll be curious to see how things went during those meetings but it's not something we could be aware of, unless the uncle of some djclan member let it slip out

Agreed, it's the reason why they cannot go back to the way they made games in the past. Shareholders want growth and don't give a shite about gamers.
"Widening the audience" and micro transactions have proven lucrative so that's the only direction it is going now. I find it a good reason to no longer buy these products.

You are wrong, he was the wrong guy for the job, had not worked on other ARPG titles before D3 and he had an important role, he was the game director ffs and he could pull a few strings.
Also it appears he didn't like D2 much, was basically PvE only and certainly not a hardcore fan of D2. If you want to see more of Wilson do watch this vid, the making of D3, by Wilson.
You will see how his dicisions influenced the game...

"Talking during GDC 2013, Blizzard's Jay Wilson discusses the pillars that guided development of smash hit action RPG Diablo III, and how well the team felt they accomplished each of those key pillars."

Most important timestamp
9:18 - 10:10 Do not give gamers options in the game As he states he was the only one who wanted that and he got his way didn't he

Other important time stamps
11:00 - 13:00 Make sure to watch as he uses a hacked jewel to make his point regarding "bad D2 itemization design" Check stats on jewel ffs.
19:00 - 20:20 Uses an early D2 "bug" where you could get killed during loading of Duriel fight to explain to us this was because of D2 potion system and it sucks.

Watch the whole fcking thing and it gives you a good idea, at the start of vid he shows titles he worked on before, all RTS. This guy was RTS to the fcking core ^^

lol will look all this as soon as i can ^^
yeah my point was more about "even if he wanted maybe he was forced" but it's seems not the case.
still maybe with another developer the results would have been driven here anyway but ok i got what you mean, that's a shame.

Anyway i confirm that even if it can't stand d2, i find it enjoyable in terms i already explained

e: your first point is why i don't belive a d2 remastered could be the same
