Part of the reason I enjoyed hardcore ladder more. I took my time and did it the right way.
I'd compete against bots and still was ranked top three on the overall Druid ladder each year.

D2 has : VLLD, LLD, MLD, Regular dueling, multiple MF spots/bosses, a much more compelling and dynamic loot system, SHAKO, Baal/CS/Cow runs, Ubers, DClone hunting, a far superior character build system, Unique items that created new builds (WWsin, BearSorc, etc), much more active/fun ladder resets that refresh the game and bring players back, TRADING ITEMS FOR ITEMS YOU WANT/NEED.

D3 has/had: Auction House, Paragon levels, rifts?, necromen, Primal Ancient Stuff, crafting?, bounties or whatever they are.

While D3 tries to implement a lot of what D2 has, it's just not as successful or fun. Plus, where the fuck is the shako?

Edit: There are 35 people browsing D2 HC USEAST forum right now. There are 5 people browsing D3 HC America's right now. D3 has ZERO social aspect. NONE. No community. D2 had that, and that was a huge part of the end game. Being able to make a game for what you wanted to do and have people join the same thing. Making a duel game, a cow run, enchant game, Act 2 Find Staff, Etc. Etc. D3's matchmaking is garbage.
