lowest i have is 287res and thats cold everything else 320+

Yeah, I was sort of worried . . .

I have 35k hp and no res (except for the occasional accidental mod and from int), and i don't get one-hit . . .

I've been using your exact build except my blizzard has stark for that range. I just fully solo'd inferno act 1 and act 2, taking a break before act 3.

41k HP / 30k DPS with like under 200 resistance I think...

So what is actually a viable a3+ setup in terms of skills/passives?

Im currently using

teleport - with that clone rune
Hydra - venom
Weapon - Force rune
Energy armor - force damage

Cold blooded
Illusionist
Glass cannon

Any input on how to better my wizzard?

what is better for low budget weapon?

1h + shield, 1h + offhand or 2h

currently having 33k dps with a 2h weapon

2h is probably the best on a lowish budget. You can get ~1250+ dps 2h with 1.20+ speed (avoid +% damage on 2h since the attack speed is already so low) for probably 500k or less. Then just get some ias/int gloves, rings, amulet, whatever (which also happen to be very cheap). The 1h gives you more freedom to get resistances/vitality/critical chance/critical damage on your armor and jewelry, but much of that stuff is expensive anyways.

The consensus here seems to be to just stack enough vit/resistances that you don't get one-shot with force armor

Have been using the same Build for the last 2 days, and finally i can farm akt 3 inferno, only difference ist that I use Ray of Frost.

Not sure what direction to go in terms of upgrading gear (glass cannon dps/stack vit+resist)
Haven't had much luck in farming (scrub at being wiz/kiting?) and I've been jumping between A2-A3 doing ZK runs and Siegebreaker in Inferno.
Problem is, I can only run Siegebreaker doing MF gear swap (~200 MF) and w/o stacks because I can't kill mobs. ZK runs w/ 5 stacks are do-able (depending on mob affixes) but very slow.
Been playing daily since 3 days after game release and I've only gotten ~4 mil saved (pathetic)...

Yeah, it's not an exact build. The only thing that should really stay constant is Hydra , Energy Armor, and Magic Weapon. The other three skills may be switched as preferred. I really, really wish I could edit my original post right now--there would be so much to add/alter.



Well, in terms of passives, I would advise you to switch out Cold Blooded for something a tad more useful--like Astral Presence, Arcane Dynamo, or (best yet) Blur. Cold Blooded is useless with Blizzard, and you should really only use it with Ray of Frost.

Do you use Blizzard as well? If you do, then your skill-setup is perfect enough for A3+ kiting.

If you're having trouble, it's most likely due to gear. The number one thing I suggest getting is around 25% increased run speed--this is unrivaled in terms of kiting benefits. And, although this might be different for another player, all I needed for A3 and A4 was more DPS.



As qgan has stated, one of the advantages of using a 2 hander originates from accessibility. It's cheaper to purchase a high DPS 2 hander than it is a 1 hander and an orb. Another advantage of using a 2 hander stems from much, much higher average damage per hit--this is very important if your build incorporates Ray of Frost or Arcane Orb as primary attacks.

A 1 hander, on the other hand, has the advantages listed by qgan.



I've heard very good things about it, and while I'm not going to purchase a 2 hander just to confirm its damage output, I can see the potential in the ridiculous increased damage %.



Your build is fine, so that's not a problem. No, it's all about gear.

To make A3 and beyond much easier, you need more DPS and just a little more life. 30-35k HP would be perfect until you're a billionaire and could afford to have 70k without losing DPS. Your DPS, however is way too low. I have 55k buffed, and some elite mobs take me a long time to kill, so I can only image how long it takes you . . .

A better weapon and some more int would go a long way to improve your performance. 4 mil is more than enough. Additionally, I would suggest increasing your movement speed from 12% to something closer to 25%.
