I wouldn't recommend people to gear up for the next patch but I mean it's pretty near. LOL better to prepare before the pricing on certain items skyrocket once the patch hits.

My understanding of Monks in the next patch is that we will have to be more tanky to actually "tank" the mobs in the higher lvls.

Right now, we really do'nt have to be tank at all, if we have like +70k unbuffed dmg, but that won't work obviously because the mobs have zillions of hp in the higher mp.

But it's great to hear that Monks are going to be a great class in the next patch as far as playing in the mp10 lvl.

From what I've experienced in ptr, hi dmamage and life leech really do a lot for survivability (reflect damage is basically our new kryptonite). have 6% LL helps that a lot; and even with the nerf to STI, armor is going to scale a lot better for us in general anyways both for RD and for everything else, so stuff like strongarm bracers, Vile ward and even just +armor mods will help maybe even more than res mods. Ground AOE doesn't hurt nearly as much until you get up to about MP4-5.

I feel bad for Wiz since they got gutted hard during the last prt patch. Most monks are quite upset about all our nerfs and no word from Blizz but at the top gear levels we are still pretty OK. Nothing like barbs though. I'm really hoping they'll add a small proc coefficient to cyclones..every other class with tornadoes twisters hurricanes or cyclones gets procs off them...wtf mate!

You think dualwielding will be viable for mp lvl 7+? I thought Id have to go sword n board.

Could anyone tell me how to spend 150m on my monk? http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/PapaSnoop-1208/hero/3189265

Okay. Let me ask for some advice as well then.

I recently sold my Inna chest and made like 60mil profit.

Bought my current chest armor for like 50k gold just to have it on.

I have like 300mil gold saved up.

What would you guys buy for my monk with that gold? I don't really care about the current patch. I've farmed it so many times already without any problem.

Just want to gear up better for the next patch.

Thanks guys!

I think both are viable, but it depends a lot on your setup. If you can get decent res all and armor without a shield, and retain hi dps and hi life leech (LoH is a bonus) then you will be fine dual wielding. It's all about keeping stasis - when you have a reflect damage group your LL is basically negated so your life stays even instead of going down while you're tanking the group. however, you've got the dmg from the group to worry about too so sometimes it's just about spreading them out so you arent AOEing 5 reflectors at a time.

I'd recommend for you maybe a good Vile Ward, a new ammy and a better mainhand. Getting CHD and an OS on your MH instantly adds about 150-200 dps to what the weapon comes with. Unfortunately if you look at 1k+ dps weaps, with CHD OS and LL only, you're looking at a pretty good chunk of your cash. but it's still worth a hard look. at 90k dps, life leech will do more for you than LoH so you could drop that from your ammy and pick up an all new higher DPS one (maybe with health and res too) and get LL on your MH and you will still feel like you've got that 600ish LoH if you bring your dps up.

Yeah pretty much what he said. I think your boots are fine though, since you've got melee DR from them. Nat's boots are a good choice too for the same reason, plus hi res and 2pc bonus with the ring. Your armor is already pretty good but you could pick up some really nice Vile Wards for even more passive mitigation, and get LL and CHD + OS on both weapons for active mitigation. You're in a similar position to me, though, where my res is starting to get really low and I'm looking at Inna's pants but I'd lose a lot of res. I also wanted to get Lacunis because I've got 5.9% LL, and lets face it, higher damage = higher healing with LL, but I'm using strongarm bracers with lots of armor and 9% life on them, so I lose that too... so I'm trying to find where I can make up the loss of defensive stats.

So now I'm looking at Inna's pants with +armor instead of my +psn res because of 1.0.5 changes. I'm just not sure how well armor scales against res. Has anyone tested this kind of thing out? I might get around to a comparison but I'd like to ask to see if anyone else has experiences to share.

Anyways, here's my link if anyone has advice. I got about 70m at the moment.

Yeah, I'm trying to find a good deal on Vile Ward and Inna's Pants. They are a bit overpriced at the moment in AH, so I'm not trying to force buying them much. Only if it's a good deal, I'll buy them. But yeah, they are certainly awesome gears for my monk for sure. Will get them eventually.

I've been using the Lacuni just to speed up my farm runs. I found that item a month ago. It has pretty cute roll so I decided to use it.

My plan is though, once I get a nice Inna's Pants, I'm going to drop the Lacuni and get a rare bracer with nice amount of dex/vita/stacked res/+5% cc. I think it's better to get a Inna's pants and get a lot of crit chance on the bracer.

As far as weapons are concerned... why is it so hard to find the right ones in AH for the right price? haha It's hard!

There's a chart WAAAAAAAY back on this thread. But basically, Effective health is most optimal when Armor = 10 times Res.

Shoot I can't handle digging almost 400 pages haha. Is it just a link to an EHP chart I might be able to search for?

Would this mean that once your at 600 res@ and 6k armor, then armor outscales res? That's gonna be tough in 1.0.5. I'm at 6.3k armor in live and 4.8k (!!!!) on ptr. Luckily with the incoming damage nerfs I'm not feeling the hurt till about MP7 and by then, health pools are a bit too high for my crappy 60k dps.

I mean I've looked at the percentages as far as diminishing returns are concerned, but then there's also the cost investment to consider with @res vs armor.

Have to agree with the bracers vs lacunis. I mean I looked for crit lacunis but they are so expensive...for me, since I'm using strongarm, I have SO MUCH health and a lot of armor on them that it's hard to drop or find comparable bracers at a decent price. But then again I found the strongarms so my upgrade cost is gonna hurt naturally when I've found half my gear. And I totally got lucky with my weaps, found them for about 15m for both incl. 80 crit gem. I saw some really really close weapons to my mainhand for about 6m less, but I figured I'd get the best one even if it costed a lot more since I could afford it.

I was looking at a spreadsheet for like 3 hours that day...lol.
