its worth farming
dual wield is nice if you have 2 life on hit items, i have with dual wield 1.3k life on hit and its really nice
problem is that no weapon can give you 100allres and armor and block chance

so ive read alot about dualwieldings now...its possible?

cant really believe that and dont wanna waste some millions to buy another weapon and see its fail-.-

he is finding exactly 2.65 times the amount of gold normall dropped. i know that because i can read numbers.

haha, okay, yeah...I just asked cause when you have X amount of MF its it's not guaranteed you'll find better drops just increased likely hood. maybe stupid question. w/e.

if you're using the dodge build want to post a link for it?

evasion mantra + evasion passive? what are your passives?

I use it sometimes but for the most part i stick with mantra of conviction and use the rune that reduces enemy damage.. My build is a fine balance to increase my dmg and reduce enemy dmg.. i have 32% base dodge so i feel as if that is enough.

I also have 522 all res and can still upgrade most of my armor, 16%+ to life, 39k+ life unbuffed and 15k dps resting, 19k while attacking and 29k everytime i hit blind for quick burst, works wonders on packs of mobs and even elites.

The only way i think a shield will be viable is if they completely revamp what it does to be similar to how shields block in diablo2, and basically just completely block an incoming attack. Perhaps that block dmg can be something that happens every hit regardless if you block an attack, that would be nice.

Hi there
I’ve been following this thread for a while now and I figured it was time for me to put my thoughts/build up for discussion, so here we go :) I’m a lvl 60 monk who’s been on inferno for quite a while and I am currently progressing through act 3. My experience while playing monk has taught me that you can’t just go balls deep trying to nuke everything down or you will die very quickly. Instead, you need to have a fair amount of tanking while also being able to CC, sustain and damage stuff. Meanwhile you also need to be able to kite since you can’t always win in first round ;) My build will reflect all these observations and I have especially tried to make my build good for kiting and sustaining (while trying to maintain damage, CC and tankiness). A screenshot of my current stats can be found below:

Items
On Head, Shoulders, Chest, Belt, Legs, Shield and Boots I have focused Dex, Vit and Fire res while trying to get extra Armor as a bonus.
On Gloves I’ve gone for Dex,Vit and Crit chance. This will probably change when I find something better.
On Rings and Amu I’ve focused attack speed over Fire res but still gotten Dex and Vit.
On my Weap I have focused attack speed and DPS, getting what I can afford ;)

Now for the skills
(http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#abXigQ!UXY!accYaZ)
As my mainspell i use FoT with thunderclap rune. I feel like FoT has the best mix of dps and spirit regen compared to the others. The knockback also offers great cc/interrupt. The rune is simply because I like the teleport and aoe :) It can probably be changed without making much of a difference :P

My first basic "must have" is Breath of Heaven with fear rune simply because heal+cc is awesome to have in one spell. The second is Serenity with heal because you need to have something to avoid plague, arcane etc. and get outta sticky situations. I dont feel any of the runes can be changed on either of them. The added cc on BoH is simply too good and the only rune which can really compete is the 15% dmg for 45 sec. However, when I heal I need to get the hell out and not do more dmg so I choose fear. Regarding heal on serenity it is just nice to have another heal and I dont like the other runes too much (they seem very situational and this is my general build).

As mantra I’ve been experimenting with evasion+hard target but dodge+armor just seems to get dimished so hard. Thats why I find myself using healing mantra with Circular Breathing alot. It helps alot to have the spirit regen when out of combat and when kiting its really nice aswell.

I also use Sweeping Wind because I can activate it and forget about it. Its adds some nice dmg and with inner storm I regen even more spirit. I sometimes change the rune for firestorm since the added range will make the vortex hit mobs while im kiting them.

As my rightclick i use deadly reach. Now this is very situational since I only use this while kiting. To avoid wasting the spell when I’m not kiting I use Foresight rune. It adds 18% dmg for 30 seconds so it is easy to keep that buff up and use FoT as main. And if I suddenly run into a situation where I need to kite. I can use deadly reach to keep Sweeping Wind up and dps. This means I will regen spirit quickly and can get back into the fight after a few secs.

As passives I have One with everything, Seize the initiative and Transcendence. The latter has been very hard for me to decide since there are a few good ones to choose between. There’s 25% dmg reduction, 8% dmg increase, CD reduction for more heal, cc etc. But I just like to have transcendence cause it means I can spam mantra to get instaheals. With this build I generate a lot of spirit and having a heal with no CD is just really nice. However, I do change this up a lot since it doesn’t heal for that much :(.

Typical strategy i use
Assuming it’s a normal fight vs some random elites I usually start by activating Sweeping Wind and getting Foresight up by attacking from distance. Afterwards I jump in with FoT, wait a few secs and pop either Serenity or BoH depending on the situation. When one runs out I pop the other. When both spells are on CD and if I can’t sustain the dmg with mantra spam I will start kiting with deadly reach waiting for CDs or hp. Obviously this tactic changes a lot depending on the mobs I’m against but this is generally what I do.

Things I consider changing (Discuss?)
Using two spirit generators might seem as bit of a waste so I’ve been thinking a lot about using deadly reach all the time. I just think I would miss the extra spirit, CC and attack speed from FoT.

Getting more resists by changing mantra of healing rune. I think this would be nice improvement but I would surely miss walking into every fight with full spirit because I can regen when out of combat. Perhaps I should get a helmet with regen and change the rune (or go for evasion or dmg mantra).

Going dualwield and getting a lot more life per hit. Seems like a valid build if u can still kite and cc + have a good attack speed. That way it’s easier to give up the sustain I have from mantra of healing for more tankiness or dps.

I feel like I have plenty hp and as it has been mentioned in this thread the more hp you got the less your heals helps. Thats why I'm also considering sacrificing some hp (5k or so) for some more resist and armor.

Last but not least I would like to know if anyone has been testing a crit build on your monk ? I've been experimenting with it but unfortunately I am lacking the gold to test it properly :P If it is posible to reach good dps using crit+crit dmg i think this would be able to generate spirit faster than my build.

Please remember this is not the build i use for EVERYTHING but is a general build i find myself using alot. I would like to continue by discussing other spells and why I am not using em so much but i feel the post would get too long :P (I hope someone will get thorugh my textwall and offer some input)

What would be the most viable for inferno?
I see people going DPS/Dodge, tank, glass cannon and so forth, I'm not sure what would be best in inferno.
