Shoot.. didn't know you were asking for advice. I thought you just like being a shield monk for some reason.

I'll take a look at everything and give you some pointers tonight. I'm at work lurking in the threads. haha

BTW, 15mil is more enough for you to get more tanky stats to go dual wield! You will have fun, I promise!

I'm totally ready, haha. I was running dual wield for a long while, and I loved it, but I just couldn't make it viable in a3. Once I put on a high crit high dex dual res shield, I was definitely good for a3, but like you said...just not as fun or fast :(

No worries. I just built a monk for my coworker with 7million total budget. I'll link the profile later for you to check out.

He spent like 7 million and his stats were like.

+1900dex/43k dmg/700all res/36k life/5500armor/500LOH/33% crit chance

Something like this. He can totally do act 3. :)

Actually you should look at his gears and try to get the similar stat gears. Most of the gears were bought between 500k - 1mil except rings/ammy/1 weapon which were like 2million max.

So yeah. 15mil is more than enough.

For sure, I can totally see that. I have spent maybe 4 mil on my monk lifetime since launch...most of the stuff is self found..except my shield, chest, pants and gloves. Once I start actually spending gold...I'm sure I can get some decent gg loots.

OK .... won an auction during the maintenace today.
Only 1.5M .... I guess people couldnt bid
Set fist 900dps, 155 dex, 150 str, 80 crit dmg, 65 lpss (sweet)

Armour: 5800
Health : 43000
Damage: 41000

36% dodge
25% crit chance
250 crit damage

2 ish aps on weapons
1000LoH
615 all res with OWE

FoT - tele
Blind - damage
BoH - bad guys run away
Wind - cyclone
serenity - 4 secs
MoC - overawe

STI
OWE
Transend

Please help with my questions.
Since my new fist has 65 lpss
I want to change one passive skill

I have 3 options
a) keep transend and get 6000 health everytime I spam overawe
b ) use Resolve for 25% less damage for 2.5secs after I hit something
c) Guardians path for extra 15% dodge (for 50% total)

I am leaning more for b or c
You guys think it is more beneficial to have 50% dodge or 25% less damage

I can do A3 with few deaths .... I want to be more efficient.

2nd question, I can change it up for more / less crit
a) 25% crit chance
250 crit damage

b ) 22% crit chance
280 crit damage

For B ..... I think I get 1 - 2K more dsp
But I notice a bit less cyclones

Thanks.

Here you go. Check it out.

Just to add, all the items were bought as BUYOUT. No bidding at all.

And I spent about 40mins getting everything. So, if anyone has about 10-15mil in their account, they can make something like this monk above.

And this is my monk. I spent probably around 140mil. Two Inna sets were around 70mil. :) I had my monk for like 3 months already. My favorite character!

Q1 - Resolve. There's a reason they're nerfing it. 25% raw reduction is crazy... and it's off any damage you deal (sweeping winds? cyclones?) Personally, I feel dodge is not so important as I usually die to molten/desecrator which cannot be dodged. With the 1000 LOH that you have, resolve will increase the effective hit points of each HP you gain. To get exact results, plug it into pathologic's monk spreadsheet (google it). I don't know about your attack speed, but if it's close to 2, it'll take about 3 seconds of attacking with FoT to generate the spirit for a mantra activation...

Q2 - 25% of 250% = 62.5%, 22% of 280% = 61.5%, not only does the first option let you crit more, it also gives you more dps... 25% for sure.

My equipment and build let me sit in 1 desecrator pit while attacking with resolve... i'm kinda right at the border to maintain my HP (ie. desecrator and plagued will drain my hp)... anyway, i once tried to switch out resolve for fleet footed... got destroyed... i suppose i could have just moved away, but i like to shut my brain off when i farm diablo 3 so i can watch tv :/ i don't have any exact numbers or direct testing for you, sorry

you could see how crippling wave impacts stuff like ghoms psn or azmodans black spot, least that way you could attack with fot till you get an idea of the average dmg your taking, and then attack with crippling wave/concussion to see if the -20% dmg reduces the average dmg your taking.

On second thought, my experience may not prove anything... I might have been dying more quickly because i was taking more regular damage while standing in desecrator as opposed to the desecrate damage itself... i suppose this needs direct testing :/
