No you can't, and yes effective hedging is the only way to make money in the long run. There has never been and will never be a "stock picker" who can avoid disaster when viewed in the long term. For a few years maybe, but everyone makes mistakes and gets it wrong once in a while. I have a saying that I remind myself of everyday in my trading. It's actually PAINTED on the wall above my computer.

You'd be well advised to take heed to that. You may think your a genius, trading unhedged and making a killing, laughing at the people wasting money hedging and diversifying. But if enough years go by, you WILL be wrong, and it WILL hurt when you are. Plus, unhedged portfolio's are totally un sellable to the public. Nobody with any amount of real money wants to invest with somebody who doesn't hedge effectively. Unhedged traders making a killing in the short term are a dime a dozen. None of them make it peak to trough to peak without giving it all back and then some...

what about the other 90% of mistakes?

they are the other 10%.

the quote is saying that your going to make alot of mistakes, and alot of them are going to be minor, but you still have to watch out for the big mistakes that can really screw you over.

you could have a bad streak and lose a lot in multiple mistakes or lose the same in just one mistake.... I don't really see how it matters

Scoundrel if your DPS is high and you want it higher, Enchantress if you need to boost defense/AS

What would you guys upgrade atm to farm a3 efficiently?
Atm Im farming a2 solo or a3 with a friend

You could get loads of DMG with upgrading your amulet and gloves.

Amulet: 100+ dex, 5+crit, 50+critdmg, poison/allres, (possible ias/loh/dualress/armor/vita).. bought myself just a 123dex, 45fr, 364loh, 302 armor, 55%critdmg, 5.5%crit neck for 21m.
Gloves: Get some decent trifect gloves, just bought myself gloves with 164dex, 50fire ress, 6ias,29%critdmg, 6.5% crit ones for 18.5m

they netted me in total around 8k dps, for you it would be alot more. =)
