Honestly I just haven't had the time to finish gearing this toon. I will make the time. Truthfully had the flu for a week and still am getting over the last of it. And this whole time I am working on purchasing a house. I will be moving into it November 1st. So I am really busy especially being the GM of my guild in wow and the Guild is now starting to expand a lot.
I will always find the time eventually for diablo 3. I haven't posted the footage because I haven't had the time to make fraps footage. I have discovered and finalized the exact spec. Truthfully, I need to spend about another 500 mill gold on gear and then I'm set. The spec works, and though its not as good as cookie cutter builds, its fun as hell and is definitely viable.
Here is the spec I am running, which requires odd gear in some slots:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#WVQdOg!Zdg!YccYcZNow I will explain why each ability is chosen and how it works.
Spectral Blade is spammable to anything in melee an is more for the heal than for dps. This is the reason I chose storm chaser as when you release the charges with Spectral Blade, it becomes a tornado that heals for a lot. This keeps me alive and is enough to not have to stack very much life on hit or life per second. This allows me to focus on pure intellect and all res rather than loh and life leech. Another good reason is that Tornado naturally critically hits quite a lot. It critically hits a lot more than other abilities. I chose a very good occulus, and am still looking for a better one so feel free to post it and I will make the forum gold to buy it, because occulus reduces the cooldown on teleport.
Illusionist and Critical Mass make sure that Slow time and Teleport are almost NEVER on cooldown. The most underestimated part of calamity rune on teleport is the fact that it crits frequently. This means that it also works well within a Critical Mass build.
The nice thing about being able to spam teleport constantly is that with Calamity rune it can be used both as a defensive and an offensive ability, and sometimes both at the same time! When I get cornered with an elite that walls me in, bam teleport and I'm good to go. The radius for the wave of force it creates is actually quite large.
I chose teleporting wave because it really scrambles the mobs about and is amazing under pressure. When I'm surrounded by mobs, I hit that and I'm safe. Also, wave of force crits quite a lot more than other abilities.
Time warp has a 100% up time when I am playing the spec correctly. When playing with others, I make sure to let them know that within the slow time, the mobs take a lot more damage.
I actually run with a Templar now. Most people will say "for the love of God why?!" Actually I have decent gear for him for survivability. With him taunting the adds and being able to survive it and throw the occasional heal, it allows me to focus on being way more aggressive. It opens me up to be able to focus on damage a lot more than just staying alive. I made sure to get a shield with a very high percentage to block and his block chance is over 60% now. He actually does decent damage too now that he doesn't really die much. His main purpose is to taunt mobs so they stop focusing on me for a few moments, easing up my rotation.
Every abilty I chose has very high crit chances with just the ability alone.
I know there's going to always be a lot of people against this spec. Maybe, if you have the gear, you should try it for yourself. It may never be the best spec. However, it is very fun. It is viable for mp10 with enough gear, but I'm not there yet. I honestly still have to practice the spec more and get more gear before I'm ready to farm anything with this spec.
The reason I play this spec is because of how fun it is.
There is one postivie thing about the spec that seperates it from any other wizard spec. It is the best spec for kiting in open areas. In open fields, you can basically never get hit. A lot of the wide open zones are perfect for elite farming with this spec.
Please remember that I am not pretending to be near the best at this game. I really do believe in this spec, especially when it comes to arena (which we're all still waiting on). It has the most insane crowd control out of any wizard spec. While it may not be as great and faceroll as the cookie cutter specs, its definitely something fun and its nice to change it up once in a while.
Seriously, try it yourself, fraps it, and put it on youtube before you just say it sucks. Try it for yourself and show it before you just say the spec is bad period.
