True, but 1 hex is a small margin of error for you. I'm just talking from this perspective: There is a player (Dennis) that gives you pretty good duels at first but you were able to completely shut him down after a while. It's quite obvious that he is lacking damage, he can't catch you and he gives you plenty of time to get openings because you can take his barrages so well. Now imagine his barrages hit you for up to 50% more per hit and at a higher rate while not sacrificing any defense stats, even gaining (E)HP. Or he could get 200k HP with nice regen from WDs skills without sacrificing on anything that he has now. That's what he would have if he would be roughly at your gear level but for WDs.
I don't know what would happen, maybe you would balance differently while still being able to kill him, maybe not. Just saying we need to wait for him/a good WD to get stats like this and I hope that's before you decide to sell up. If Blizz doesn't fuck up itemization with 1.08 the PTR will show what's up with perfectly pvp tuned chars going at it.
There is still some stuff I have yet to see from a WD vs. you. They never try to maximize dps for those windows hex gives them. Even Dennis is pretty much going with the standard barrage/haunt spamming build. He does nothing that we didn't already see from those duels on ptr vs. the asians. He uses hex well, but he doesn't use anything to get a nice burst in those windows, just a few free hits of his standard barrages and haunts. Gargantuan (kinda useless vs. rend and easily kited for a good barb) and rush of essence (really useless with his low aps) could be replaced for more burst (big bad voodoo or another dot, pierce the veil or a defensive passive) or more reliable cc (mass confusion with stun would be really good after 1 hex or to make the offensive spirit walk -> hex more reliable, your current build lacks charge or smth to get out of range fast after a hex, poison dart with snake to the face (needs more aps)). If he works on that part of his game and gets better gear it will be a joy to watch.
That's basically what they need to do. 1. help from utility skills in applying hex and 2. more efficient way to use the hex windows.
Yes, EHP calculation is flawed because there is no EHP number that factors in everything in one number like elite reduction, block, physical resistance and so on. But we don't need a calculator to see that 144k HP > 114k HP with similar armor/res numbers and non of the things mentioned before involved.
agree with most of what you said, we'l just have to wait and see. Hopefully more WDs with access to high tier gear step up to the plate and try to figure out their class.
well all except the part about big bad voodoo
