Since this is the high-end monk thread I'll give my input on what is the most viable and quick way of running your monk solo. Life gen, high LoH and 60k life is nice but for quick A3 runs all you need to aim for is:

- Ok res - I'd say anything over 600 is ok.
- Some life - 30k+
- Some LoH to sustain in your 1-5 sec fights - 500+ should do the trick
- DPS - around 60-70k+ unbuffed

With the above setup enemies will literally melt infront of you and I'd say no other stats really matter at this point. Sure it's fun to be able to stand in 3 poison pools and swing away for two minutes but for quick runs you don't want to spend much more than one serenity-blind burst on most elite packs before it's time to pick up rares and move on to next.

For public group play the requirements are somewhat different ofc.

50k + dps and the other stats is enough to do everything in the game with little to no effort ^^

After that I added around 60 more resists, and went to go play A3.  My damage improved to 35k after I started to dump some crit damage items for more dexterity and cc, as well as 2 new weapons with socket and crit.  Right now my roadblock is Ghom, but I'm working out some math around this to see if I can get through it.

Ghom is actually insanely easy if you kite around the room stopping 1-2 times per side to dps him down.
Moving each time specifically to stay outta the cloud. The areas around the room should dissapate before you get back around to them.
@ your dps it should be no problem. I did this method, DW with only 14k dps at the time... roughly to rotations around the room.

i am actually finding mobs AFTER Ghom way more difficult lol.

all this talk of 40k. 50k, 60k dps... lol. NOT average monk gear. Expensive monk gear, sure.

Average player is pushing 20k dps or so on their monk.

At the same time the "average" 20k dps monk might acctually think that that is all the monk has to offer. When rolling the monk in May I was a bit put down when seeing other classes farming A3 in easymode and then it was very inspiring the first time I saw some streams with 60k monks and understood that I had a killing machine just waiting to realize it's potential.

When you start investing and acctually putting some effor into your monk you realize that this class has the potential of being up there among the fastest farmers. Especially as the listed dps isn't even close to the actual performance of the monk when you're running him.

Exactly what I was feeling when i first started, or could say, tried to go farming in act3 2 months ago. I can't sadly remember what kind of gear i had, but i remember i had 2.9 attacks per second and my dps was like 19k :D Can't imagine what it would do now, if there wouldn't have been the ias nerf. And indeed the damage goes pretty high when running. I'm hitting 115k dps in detail screen when smashing'n'bashing (Blinding flash makes it up to 150k). But that's with all the boosts i get. And that's propably not even close what it could be, but i prefer staying all the time above 50% hitpoints and having around 800 resistances than going totally glasscannon.

keep in mind monk probably does a lot more than the character sheet DPS than other classes. im only at 41k DPS, but with conviction + overawe, sweeping wind + cyclone, i take things down faster than other classes with higher DPS. plus with blind + serenity, you spend minimal time actually kiting and more time pure DPSing
