So i was goofing around in Act3 Inferno the other day, ran into my favorite champ mob... a four pack of those arm guys that create plague-like pools at range?
Yay, that with Jailer, Desecrate, Arcane, Mortor... DEAR GOD!!!  They hit hard at range, and hit hard in melee, all the while constantly locking me down into either one of their massive hitting moves.

Just before bridge area, i can handle massive packs of mobs, and every champ type thrown at me, but this one was INSANE.
Run away? Dead.  Melee range? Dead. Melee + Kite? Dead.  Mid-range with Deadly Reach? Dead. ROFL!!  needless to say im a stubborn prick and after many deaths (full durability down to red) i finally killed em, hahaha.
I'm not horribly geared either... 800+ res, 7k armor, 31k DPS, 1400 LoH, 41k HP, 20% CC/150% CD... lol good times.

Anywhoo, tahts my monk story for the day. :)

herald of pestilence?

Dual wield?
Heralds are easy to deal with unless molten cause they don't hurt up close as long as they don't throw their tentacles in your face

True, in there white mob form. As champ, their speed and HP are significantly higher... making their natural attack PLUS the nasty affixes i mentioned a real doozy.
Heh, was actually an enjoyable challenge.

Dual wield?

yup. Well the armor was after enchantress buff. I think i ended up doing the kills after switching mid fight to shield for more resists/armor/block/hp.

^ not really.  If you are relying solely on LoH as your heal, it will definitely not be enough.
However, if you have near 1000 life regen, or a couple hundred life per spirit spent, or much higher dps + life steal, then its fine... combo-wise.

If it is your only heal source, then very much no.  Minimum 1000 LoH if it is your only heal source. :)
Yes it would cost a few more millions to upgrade, but frankly Monks are very gear dependent... an expensive class since we also share main stat with DHs.

Thanks mate, really appreciated your help!

Another question that came up!

Against my calculations I didn't quite reach the life I wanted to have... Instead of 40k it's 33k with the other stats being the same (35k dps, 800 ar, 35 crit, 307 crit chance)

What's better dps/life style-wise.

40k dps / 33k life
35k dps / 45k life

?

Edit: The idea behind it is to swap 5 emerals for 5 amethysts. Therefore I would also loose quite a bit % chance to dodge...

I wouldnt bother dropping DPS for HP, 33k is fine provided you can get your heal sources up, more LoH or a combination of the ones i stated will easily keep you up.
coupled with decent armor/resists, they easily make up for 15kish life. REmemeber effective HP (mitigation) is more valuable than pure HP... while 33k is low, if your other defensive stats are good nuff, you will be fine.

For act3, only go with the lower life, higher DPS if you can bring up the stats i talked about earlier.
you seem to have decent resists, hopefully your armor is decent too (5k+ unbuffed).

hey wizz.

well you are on the right track.
Honestly? you dont have far to go ... i found taht minimum of 600 resist and 5k armor unbuffed was the sweetspot.
Somehow it is a great breakpoint for act2, i was in your same shoes last month, 500 resists dying a LOT in act2.
But i dished out for 100 mroe resists and had a way easier time. 1000 more armor is a good move too, armor is VERY beneficial as effective health.

Additionally, it isnt vital, but shooting for 1200+ LoH... or stay where you are and combine Life Per Spirit Spent stats, with Life Regen for a nice boost to help when kiting.
Life leech would help if you started pushing for high dps. Your crit is pretty nice.

As for skills, drop Hundred Fists FAST! I love that skill but sadly the LoH return is horrible with it. It does not procc per rapid strike of that 2nd attack.
Therefore it is like a slow'd attack making your total LoH per second pretty bad. I highly suggest Fist of Thunder, espectially for dual wield... fastest attack for near full LoH procc rate.
The run is your preference, the teleporting one is always nice, but the increased dodge one is always helpful too.

I actually use two spirit builders... FoT/Thunderclap, AND deadly strike/Keen Eye....
FOT for fast attack, tank n spank self healing, teleporting to running targets. and deadly strike for keeping my Sweeping stacks up when i cant get in immediete melee range and to boost defense in the split seconds i sometimes need it.
Other than that, the rest of your skill setup is typical, and proven to work well.

GL man, srory to type so much i had a lot of caffeine!

Keep your offensive stats (crit %, crit dam) and aim for 700-800 res, 6k armor, 2k dex and 2 aps (1.4+ weapons). Use FoT:TClap instead of WoHF.

Um...

Okay I can do A2 in my sleep with those stats. You need to change your skills out or perhaps work on your gameplay. Dying maybe 1 or 2 times throughout the entire run is what I'd expect here, at worst.
