how does the resistance work? why is there 2 separate additive numbers and where does the +25% come from? I know the 79.24% is just from all ress on ur gear

Monk passive and esoteric gem add that extra you see after the resistance, it's just 25% off of whatever damage you take after resistance. There's all sorts of calculations I cba finding.

Here's how you do the maths

Reducation A = 79.24%
Reduction B = 25%

two important things you can do with the % numbers

Take it as a fraction = /100
A1= 0.7924
B1= 0.25

Find the probability of it not happening/percentage left= 100%-X
A2= 20.76%
B2= 75%

Doing both we get the the reduction fractions
A3= 0.2076
B3= 0.75

now we can work out how much damage we take= Damage x A3 x B3
so if you took 100% damage before now you take 100 x 0.2076 x 0.75 = 15.57%

for effective health you divide the numbers X / 0.2076 / 0.75 = 6.4X ie real health pool is 6.4 times larger than normal health
Or use the percentage damage we just found X / (1- 0.1557) = 6.4X


From initial numbers:
Damage= (1-0.7924) x (1-0.25) = 0.1557 = 15.57% damage
Effective HP = X / (1-0.7924) / (1-0.25) = 6.4X = 6.4 times life

fck , still havent found torch yet.. paragon 300.. should I try gambling for it?

i've been trying to find a way to do it but it doensn't even matter. Even when there is 1-2 second of downtime the damage you do is 10% of what WOL Does meaning you'd have to do 10 SSS to = one WOL

not entirely sure who i'm doing these maths things for as people who can follow it probably know most of it anyway, myself mostly i guess :)

You need to spend 81,094 blood shards to get a 80% chance of looting torch.

So yeah, I'd rather focus on something else. Like the set items that "only" need 2,4k for the same chance. Hence I've just started to get my leggies into ancients rather than gambling for unity, wep or amulet.
