Now, using THE LINKS YOU PROVIDED TO ME, I'll take 2 more screenshots:






See how his damage range is TWICE as high as mine? That's because his skill damage increased by dex is TWICE as high as mine...

So despite the fact we have the same SHEET DPS, his ACTUAL damage output is TWICE as much as me... without a single point of Crit Chance / Crit Damage.

The screenshot you posted says you have higher DPS? His range is higher but you have higher damage per second.

You are comparing an auto attack in 2 different gearing styles. Punch for punch he has you, sure. But you have gone for crit on your gear so you are being biased towards him because you want us to say how super awesome it is. You are looking at normal hit vs normal hit when you have gone for crit (granted you have litte crit hit dmg and dont use cyclone so not entirely sure why).

I don't use cyclone because I like having spirit for tempest rush. I use master of the wind so I can keep SW up 100% of the time after snapshot casting it.


And the point of his damage range being twice as high as mine being so important is that it is exactly as it says it is... the damage range. His damage is CONSISTENT whereas mine relies on random crits and how high they roll to do damage. During fights, I'm constantly seeing mob HP bars drop by like 80%, then the next hit barely touches them.


That's where the efficiency of his build shines. He has such an amazing BASE damage range, that he doesn't even need crits. Where I'm relying on randomness in the game... He's relying on pure base damage, which provides him with the clear edge in terms of farming efficiency.


Like I said before, I'd MUCH rather have a hit range of 30-60k doing CONSTANT damage, then a hit range of 15-30k with the CHANCE of hitting 30-80k....



Let me try and put it in perspective:


My hit range is 15-32k.
His hit range is 30-65k.


I have 40% crit chance, and about 250ish crit damage (depending on what gear I'm using at the time)

So basically I have a 40% chance to hit as hard as he does, 100% of the time... with the rare possibility of hitting a little harder (up to 80k).


His dex is so high, it's basically like me having 100% crit chance with 100% crit damage, effectively doubling my damage output.


Crit Chance / Crit Damage (believe it or not) actually INFLATES your sheet DPS. Yes, you might have much higher TRUE dps then what your sheet says, but crit actually effects your sheet DPS in a way that doesn't scale properly vs. someone's sheet DPS with NO crit whatsoever.

My Character vs. His Character is a clear example of that.

The get some decent critical hit damage so your crit chance actually has something to synergize with? Then when the stars do align and the RNG gods grant you a crit it actually does some damage rather than hitting like a wet noodle

Who cares about the consistency of the dmg?

DPS is factors in all these attack modifiers: Dex/Attack Speed/Crit Chance/Crit Damage/Your weapon dmgs

All these shits are computed into this shit looking formula and give you the on screen dmg.

And "His sheet would read 4000% increased skill damage" is false. Dex doesn't just increase the skill dmg. It's related to the weapon dmg.

This is not a news to anyone. I don't know why you are going so apeshit on his 4,000 dex when he has no cc/cd which increase the overall dps by A LOT.

I'm not saying his monk is shit, I'm just saying that he could have made it much better with incorporating cc/cd/as altogether.

But that probably cost a lot more and whatnot.
