you talk alot about LPH, Lpss turn out to be quite crappy?

Tested for 3 hourz.

Shields are shit.

Even had a buddy who.just hit 60 buy a a1 farming setup with my stat plan for.less than 1 mil.

I really enjoy the debate here though.

I did this. I dusted off a 80 to my resist stack 8 percent crit dmg shield with vit and dex and bonus armor on it.
I tried my build... I have to play a lot more defensively to even try a3
I threw in deadly reach... same... then I realized that deadly reach is pointless with a shield
if I am running from dmg and doung ranged... why a shield.
I tested crit builds. Pointless with shield. You crit less so less tornados, less crits.
tested facetanking build. The lower loh makes the little bit from armor you get insignificant.
I will grant you this. I probably have a completely different playstyle than you do. Maybe a shield is better for
your clickin' but it sucks for mine.

As far a price goes.
My friend dave... like I said.... 1 million gold investment.... is farming a1.
he isn't stupid fast yet... but he will be if he keeps at it and works for it.

I am glad a shield works for you. I truely am.
I cannot understand why it does, at all, but that doeant mean it doesn't.
Just like in d2... time will prove one of us wrong as either dual or planking will become cookie cutter.

but whats the deal with Lpss, like you advocate better attack speed = more Loh

but lets say you go with a life steal/life regen/Lpss build.

usually you would want Owe seize and guardian path but if you go sword shield guardian path dosnt do anything and with the def from the shield do you still need seize? so you could go with a resolve/owe/transcendence build, you could even go exhalted soul for 250 spirit instead of resolve giving you even more healing.

so like how do you think Lpss would work with a sword/shield build?

also you made this http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=63633210&f=142 so im asking because id imagine you still have the lpss gear and could better test a sword/shiled build with lpss then some one that has to go buy lpss gear.

Lpss is great in its place.
I do not believe it is worth a passive as I have stacked over 100 lpss on weapons.
Using a shield would slow your all important spirit generating attacks down and could cause you to become spirit starved
In longer fights.
I tested this too. A couple weeks ago.

One awesome alternative is to stack life per.second.
If you get 3-4k life per second... that may compensate for lpss and lph and leech. I don't really want to dump more gold into testing this but since almost every piece of gear can have mass life per second...

When I was testing life per spirit spent I supplemented it with about 1600 life per second. I did.get.spirit starved from time to time but when I found my sick loh weapon I put the lpss back on the shelf and saved for a comperable weapon for the offhand.

i dont think regen coluld ever fully compensate for leech or loh for melee char that dosnt constanly kite. you really need that burst heal on top of the constant regen when in combat.

I agree. I would be interested to see what having all of the above with average stats would look like. I do have a 699 lph weapon with 2.9 dmg to life.
Honestly I cant read fast enough to see if it is working however.

You're obviously doing it wrong.

Never had any problems running a3 with a shield with around 20k unbuffed dps and never had problem with the killing speed. My gear is worth probably 10m though.

i have that w/o the lpss and it works quite well.

and like 700 lph with fot/tc is reduced by 25% to 525 aoe=1 hit so if you hit 2 diffrent monsters with your 1st and 3rd hitsyou would get an aoe behind both on your third hit counting for 3 hits all together.

crip is only 2 hits, hundred fist is alot but its reduced by like 91% per hit, and Deadly reach is also only 2 hits ( the hit and the aoe hit)

so the most hits you can get with 1 attack is 3 hits with the fot/tc way described above.

so 3 * 525 = 1575

so the only way your ever going to see a healing tick above 1575 is if your using a healing spell/potion or the life steal+ regen is working. so if your seeign 2000 heal ticks, its working.

IMHO, Shields are not crap even if you don't use the %block. It's a question of play style and gear orientation/legacy, it's a whole.

Before the nerf of the inferno mode, especially if you were playing in a group, it was very difficult to had enought dps to compensate the loss of survavibility of DW.

Now things are different but I keep my shield and things are going pretty well for me.

I have no LoH and only 2.90 % LL. I can clean all acts easily and play in groups with the mantra of conviction.The res and the armor I have from my shield helps making my LL build viable. What I really like from my current setup is that I havel very cheap room for improvement.

PS: I wanted to bring much more explanation but I need to go back to my bed. Mb later. @Op yes, DW is good especially with a lot of LoH but it's not the only viable orientation, alternatives exist and depending of your current gear some ways are better than others.
