That link and article is misleading and tries to misrepresent the situation.
Despite showing an image of the keyfob to scare readers, what they are referring to is the World of Warcraft only Dial-In authenticator, which does not and never has been supported by Diablo.

There are still no confirmed instances of a real authenticator being "hacked", i.e. keychain, mobile or winauth.

I never cracked the algorithm, it exists in the public domain. I just converted it and wrote it into a convenient portable application.
I still recommend you get a physical authenticator if you can.
