Then this explains it, because ww is never seen as a main form of attack, but more for mobility. Even having a low low dps off-hand for instance a dagger, killing speed improves due to its high aps on it.
I have ever tried dual swords combo of the same damage. When single wield on shield, I can achieve about 30k damage on the first sword, and 26k damage on the second sword, however when dual-wielding both swords, over-all damage is only achievable up to 39k instead of 56k. Killing speed only improved marginally however survivability drops drastically. (of course my off-hand has 700 LoH in place of the natural 51% crit compared to the first sword, but doesn't change the fact survivability of dual-sword combo is suck even at 1500LoH)
Interestingly when equiped with a for instance a 1100dps/1.2aps spear and a 400dps/1.66aps dagger, and at only 30k damage overall, which the damage is even much lower than the sword-sword combo, performance (killing speed and survivability) improves vastly compared to the sword-sword build.
I think it is of paramount important to choose dagger as off-hand. The aps has great effects on the tick rate of the nados, which in turn affects LoH and Crit Damage, and most importantly, Fury Generation from Crit Rates.
p.s. there is another guide saying dual mighty-weapons combo. Seems that according to the youtube video, it works too and the user doesn't have any fury problems on his barb.
p.s.s I usually pub in act 3 with my first sword/shield combo for safety reasons. But today, I am going to log off my Diablo with my Spear/Dagger combo for viewing..
