hey tbone,

awesome post, concise and hits the less obvious but very important things. i agree especially with buying stuff cause it's a good deal. we all upgrade eventually so one of the best reasons to buy something is simply because it's a great deal. i point this out because this is rarely mentioned.

some questions if you don't mind

1) what mp do you do? it sounds like you do mid/high mp. if that's the case, why don't you do mp0 or 1 for potentially better xp/loot per unit time?
2) why frenzy with maniac over bash with punish? so i can imagine some answers but i'm curious from your perspective. i ask the question from the following perspective: when i'm with my ww spec, i use bash/instigation because i do mp0/1 so it's just to bash inanimate objects so i can continuously sprint. however, when i'm in my hota/overpower/rend spec for ubers, i use bash with punish over frenzy w/maniac. i use bash because:

a) fury regen is faster (i know you mentioned this as a benefit for bash/punish over frenzy/maniac in your post)
b ) i think (never measured) that 3 bashes take less time than 5 frenzy hits. therefore, it takes me less time to get to +24% than would frenzy. in my hota build, i hota about 8-9 times before i do bash to maintain the +24% dmg. i repeat this over and over, and sometimes i throw in a rend/blood lust if i need it for survival purposes. thus, the only arguments i could see for frenzy are:

i) frenzy does more dmg than bash - but is this the case considering that i only do one frenzy or bash every 8-9 HOTAs?
ii) some other reason.

i should caveat all this with the fact that you are likely using frenzy much more frequently than i would use frenzy or bash, so... yeah i'm asking with regard to my build in particular, for which you may or may not think frenzy is better than bash. but also feel free to share your use of frenzy in your build and how in that case it is better than bash.

last question, do you post on the d3 bnet barbarian forums with dboy, acrinomous, uberjager, and the other guys who post a lot and seem quite knowledgeable?

Wasnt sure how HOTA worked until recently

I do mp6, I find it most enjoyable, I am over worrying about what is best exp/loot per hour at this point

mp6 just feels right, and I down elites in 4-15 secs

you keep the 75% ias from frenzy while you HOTA SMASH, no beating frenzy IMO.. especially with my +% frenzy dmg, I tried recently going back to bash.. I just cant do it.. If you can keep 5 stack frenzy its god status, smacking shit like a mad man

HOTA alternates weapon speed + damage on every swing. So does weapon throw, fyi.

God DW Hota is so fun! I bought this 1.66 aps dagger to try the speed with EF, and my barb is like MAD when swinging with 5 frenzy stacks. It's like taddadadadadadadadada fast.

Is it worth stacking Bash/Frenzy on SOJ/IK Belt? Is there ammy that also gives?

I currently use a Cold 21% with 10% Bash bonus and im using Punish rune.
Have a 30% cold soj but not barb but electing to use the Bash..

Is it worth it to get a IK belt with Bash + an ammy if they exist?

or better to use a random 30% / cold dmg SOJ instead?

I use it to keep up Fury/DPS and finish off single target elite/champ...

yeah i wish frenzy speed applied to other skills

fastest frenzy speed is, i think ....

1.66 dagger + 0.28 enchantress / perfect echo = 1.94 base aps

x 15 dual wield / 25 wotb / 25 shrine / 75 frenzy / 9x9 = 81 mempo tyrael witching lacuni inna rings amu gloves and something like 6 with legacy zuni = 227 % ias

1.94 x 3.27 = 6.34 aps

can you imagine if they never nerfed ias to half, items used to have 15% ias and weapons had 25% ias on them




if you dont need -cost to throw or hota in your build, why not? are you using generators a lot? and the items that can have those bonuses are soj, skull grasp, maras amu and ik belt (or rare mighty belts) ... you can get around 49% or so I think in total to bash / frenzy / cleave

I mean why not? It's a good chunk of bonus dmg. And if you have high dmg, the amount is huge.

Which skill would be best to get? Bash / Frenzy / Cleave ?

Im leaning between Frenzy and Bash.... The dmg bonus on Bash/Punish is pretty big, esp if you know how to time it and keep it up.....
