Please go to inferno and play a bit... all other diff is a walk on the park for ne class...

You miss the point, nerd... not everyone plays this game with such infatuation as you do. Perhaps Hell is easy for you and all of the other nerdlings out there, but some of us only play for an hour a day or such and discussion on hell can be quite useful to them.

Sword and board barb here. Farming act 2 easy, having a lot of trouble with act 3. Basic stats are (buffed):

48k HP
15.1k DPS (~18.3k if using berserker rage)
10k armor
800-920 resist all
0 LoH
34% block chance

Doing the regular frenzy/revenge/leap/charge/ignore pain/war cry build with nerves of steel, tough as nails, and superstition. What I'm having issues with is sometimes surviving those rough anti-melee group combo's, and even when I survive some groups I simply don't always have the dps to kill them before the enrage timer. So, this build has carried me through act 1+2, but I think I need a change for act 3. My idea's are switching either leap or charge for WotB, and swapping superstition for berserker rage. Anyone have any advice? I tried swapping leap for WotB last night and superstition for BR, but it was about 2am and I was drunk. I melted packs and bosses (act 2), but anti-melee groups shut me down so much faster it felt like. So, any advice or words of wisdom would be great. Would like to start farming SB soon (which I hear charge is needed for now?).

The way I see it, this game is still less than a month in... and if it's anything like Diablo 2, it's going to be at least a year before the truly best and successful builds are discovered and hit mainstream. So imo, it pays to think outside the box than to use what's currently popular atm, because likely what's best hasn't been discovered yet and you might just be the person to find it... or at the very least, find something that's one step closer.

Ignore Pain is a wasted skill IMO. To long a cool down for to little of an ability. I have less everything than you except resists which are about equal armor which is equal and my block is 39%. As long as you use Leap when its up and not just for an escape or starter you'll be fine without Ignore Pain. I'd work on getting Life on Hit as well and replacing Charge. The only healing ability I use is Revenge. I also run 2 offense abilities Wotb and Earthquake. Act 1 is a joke of course as it is for everyone and so is act 2. Except for the few and far between stupid elite packs. I got an elite pack I couldn't kill last night those fire constructs in the area where you gotta get the guys body. The Terminus or whatever. It was a yellow with invulnerable minions. I couldnt stop to attack cause fire was always on the ground and eating me up.

But for the most part 90% of the time I clear act 2 with no troubles.

But life on hit is a must, not life steal though because it is reduced 80%.

I agree, although Ignore Pain looks appealing, you get a lot more out of skills like Revenge, Leap, & Ground Stomp.

how many of you have tried the WW + sprint build? I'm getting ultra bored of bashing away with frenzy while spamming the revenge hotkey on a sword n board tanker, wanna try something new and ww/sprint build looks fun as hell.

Its fun, but not really working as well as a tanking build IMO.

Hello, I'm new to d2jsp and I've been playing my main barb since day 1.

I currently have been slowly upgrading my equips piece by piece and doing decent up till act 3/4 inferno. However the 2nd half of act 4 is somewhat slightly more tricky and Im having significantly much more trouble clearing them, let alone farming them.

Recently I bought a decent immortal king chest and belt to replace my old chest and SOE, gave me significant benefits when fighting elemental elites while retaining similar physical EHP. However the 2nd half of act 4 and some of the later parts of act 3 gives me some problems, making it significantly less effective to farm 5 stacks -> Cydea -> Azmodan, and 5 stacks -> Diablo. This is especially cumbersome for the second half of act 4 thanks to a certain mob (forgot its name) that cast rather defense breaking curses such as the one that reduces armor/elemental resist by 50%.

Current stats:
50k HP
12.3k DPS (slow attack speed, 1.2)
900 LOH
1000-1100 resist all (almost 1200 for physical) after shout
9000++ (almost 10k) armor after shout

Using cookie cutter skills,
Frenzy Sidearm
Revenge Provocation
Furious Charge Dreadnought
Leap Iron Impact
Wrath Insanity / Threatening shout (depending on solo or group play)
War Cry Impunity

I wouldn't say the 2nd half of act 3 and 4 are brutal or slaughterish, but I'm more or less struggling to keep up with it to farm it efficiently. Mobs there seem to hit significantly harder than the first half of act 3 and 4. Also I seem to be on the low side of DPS and I'm working to increase some resist/armor and damage at the moment, since my gloves, boots and helm is due for an upgrade since act 1.

Awkwardly enough, I find that the difficulty for act 3 and 4 are rather similar, but mixed. Pre Seigebreaker act 3 is similar to pre silver spire act 4, followed by post seigebreaker act 3 then silver spire act 4. Ponyland seem to fall somewhere in-between. Just an observation, because I don't seem to have any problems with pre seigebreaker and pre silver spire (farmable level, although the first half of act 4 is pretty shitty to farm as theres barely any elites/champs to get 5 stacks of valor).

Also I have one last question about loots... I understand that item level 63 seem to only drop from act 3, 4 and ponyland, but I've been thinking about the possible rolls that comes out of the items. Is it possible that different parts of the act have
1) Different drop rates for ilevel63
2) Higher possible roll stats for later parts of the act

Is it possible? I've been wondering and I can't seem to not find a reason why there wouldn't be to prevent players from going for seigebreaker if the drops are the same. This is of course talking about pre 1.0.3 patch. Would also want to check if farming ponyland be decent? I seem to be getting mixed results from doing numerous pony runs as compared to seigebreaker runs. Could be just plain dumb luck, but I've noticed that I'm getting worse loot out of ponyland.

Sprint+WW is interesting but I got sick of it after a few hours. You can also plug Sprint into a typical Frenzy/Revenge build as additional AOE dps, healing and mobility.

Currently I'm using Frenzy, Revenge, Wrath, Leap, Charge, Warcry, both armor passives and Berserker Rage. I drop charge for groundslam when I kill Diablo for people because stunning clones as they spawn makes the only potentially hard part of the fight trivial.

I'll be going a bit more offensive in 1.03 with IAS/Crit gloves and ring since my current survivability will probably be overkill. I also need a new shield, I just grabbed that one quickly to compare to Stormshield. That 20k dps is without the +25% at full fury and without frenzy up so in actual combat my dps is pretty great for a tank build. Other than that I'm at the point now where it's just a matter of finding slightly better rolls of my current gear so I haven't really been putting that much effort into it.
