then dont start with a monk?
melee are known as gear dependent classes for a reason
har ahr har look at me i started with a barb on d2, sad days my barb cant mf

should of made that sorc to mf meph over and over (get the hint yet)
yeah, but people are asking questions about gear progression - and they likely aren't at the level where they can afford to think about super-expensive items like stormshield (you can't find one on the AH for less than 15 or 20m), not what their end-game gear should look like. there's a distinct difference between the two.
when someone asks a question with "here's my gear/stats/skill build, what should I work on next?" the answer is highly dependent on what his gear/stats/build actually are. you can't tell someone with a monk that has 5m in gear to use the same skill build you're using because you're at different places in the game. you also can't expect them to suddenly make gold appear from thin air and buy an item that's 10 times more than what their entire character is worth.

and yes i dont have that much of budget, only around 20m
i would like to know what works for u guys before i buy the wrong items
here's the fairly short and generalized answer:
1. get enough defensive gear (armor, resists, hp) so that you no longer get one or two-shot
2. get enough DPS so that you can kill stuff in a reasonable amount of time -- for a lot of people, this is just anywhere between 10-15k dps unbuffed
3. augment your gear with LoH and some attack speed so that you can regen your HP at a reasonable rate (until then, you'll be kiting a lot)
4. then continue to improve your gear where your feel is needed to have faster clear times -- sometimes this means more defensive stats so you can stay in combat longer, and sometimes this means more offensive stats so you can shorten fights
in terms of specific item stats:
-- dodge, melee reduction and block are highly valuable defensive stats; the more armor and resists you have, the more these will work for you (and will increase in relative value to simply adding more resists/armor)
-- hp is great, but you need to have mitigation to make your hp work for you; someone with 30k hp who takes 5k hits will be much better off than someone with 60k hp who takes 10k hits
-- LoH is wonderful, but it should not be prioritized until you have sufficient mitigation to survive one-shots
-- DPS -- don't underestimate the value of dexterity in adding to your overall dps; weapon DPS is great, but high dex can more than make up for low weapon DPS in many cases
