I've been using a similar build to this ever since force armor got nerfed, tho i use blur glass cannon and cold blooded! i have around 60k dps and 33k health, mostly things dont 1 hit me but if i do start getting 1 hit i can get my health up to 46k and my damage down to 50k

My brain bugged when i read that.

But except that part, your guide is awesome!

55%.

1.3 x 1.55 = 2.015.

What question?

On a side-note:

Would anyone be willing to donate .01 fg for the sake of my next guide? I'm unwilling to post it unless I can red/bold text it.

Pretty please????

Lol, I know. It did, but it also infuriated me; "So close, and yet so far" never seemed so apt before . . .

Please remember to come back and tell us of your experiences. Every build could use improvement--as Fathom has proven.

Regarding any and all IAS/Attack Speed/Hydra

Testing has proved (prove me wrong please, please try for the benefit of us all) that HYDRA DAMAGE IS BASED ON DPS, NOT DAMAGE.

Hydras will always attack at the same attack speed, but their damage is increased by attack speed.

Equip a crappy vendor weapon, and get your two best IAS rings/amulets/gloves. Isolate other variables. Test hydra damage. Then equip the rings for IAS. Theoretically there should be zero increase in damage, but reality is that there is an increase in damage because of the IAS.

Which leads me to believe that Hydras damage is calculated by taking the DPS shown in your inventory, and modifying it with a Hydra modifier.

What does this mean?

This changes the whole itemization of the wizard. First, there is no longer any preference towards damage over IAS. The magic "DPS" number is again what all wizards should aim for. In Inferno, Hydras are our main damage. Not blizzard (which is based off of weapon damage, no IAS) nor Piercing Orb. Hydras are the main damage. Therefore we want to increase Hydra damage, which means we want our "DPS" to be as high as possible. So now having more IAS not only means more Hydra damage, but it also means more survivability because of your ability to attack faster, place hydra/blizzard faster, and all in all get more attacks in as you kite.

As I have already posted beforehand in another thread, read this: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5594209994

Your testing was inconclusive. It is always better to have higher damage per hit--as opposed to high DPS. ALWAYS.

(For Wizards, at least--and in Inferno. So maybe almost always.)
