I've seen people go both ways. Some people do very well with a high dex, high resists/armor, high damage build. Others use lower damage with high vit with tons of life on hit.

There's no best way to do it, but the "gear check" for A3 is somewhere along the lines of ~14k dps, 600+ resists, and 30k+ hp.
