There is always a chest in level 1 and always a chest in level 2. With the randomization of the spawns, it does not always spawn close to the checkpoint/waypoint, but it is always there from what I have seen. Although I have not explored EVERY map to confirm this, I have done enough to feel confident in my assertion.
