I tried switching to dual wield last night, but because I have a slow mainhand, the difference wasn't very noticeable.  The difference from losing 1100 armor and ~160 resists from not having my shield was more noticeable though.

I wouldn't recommend doing it with anything less than a fist weapon. I've never had good success with anything slower. Unless your initial strike is massive in damage...

Well, the offhand I picked up off the AH last night was in fact a 1000 dps blue Fist. My paperdoll DPS went up by a whopping 500 when switching from 1h to dual wielding.

My mainhand, which still does more DPS than anything I've found, is a socketed rare 1027 DPS axe with 1.30 aspd. It's been a mixed blessing, since it does a lot of damage, but its lack of attack speed and small amount of LoH (can only afford a +190 LoH Amethyst on the socket) has made gearing a constant uphill battle.

Lets say my attack per second is 2.0 without my weapons having increased attack speed. I'm in need to upgrade my weapons so how much dps should I look for, 700+? 800+? With dexterity and life on hit of course.

An 800+ is obviously better. Its going to be expensive though.

The more the better? ^^

That question makes no sense.

As you know, dps on weapon comes from base weapon dmg, its +dmg/%dmg mods and its attack speed. I'd still pick something with %attack speed, or otherwise weapons with 1.50+ if you can.

EG. two weapons with 800 dps, but one has better attack speed - take it.

You might be able to drop tal armor/lacuni/boj for something better then

and target 800+, then upgrade from here..

I guess how I worded it made no sense? What I was trying to get across was maybe the 700+ dps can have more stats than the 800+ dps. But I'll go with the 800+ dps.

Seeing how I want to do fists, since the base is 1.40, I should get % attack speed on it?

Anyone else switched to dual wield for the attack speed?

Currently sitting at 750 all res / 5300 armor / 11% crit chance / 114% crit dmg / ~70% dodge when spamming mantra and attacking / 19k dps / 1.95 attacks per second / 1300 LoH ... works pretty good so far, champions are no longer BIG NOPE, now can actually tank fire chains in act 4 :o

huh im at almost the same stats (a little more of everything actually except 18k dps), and i still cant tank fire chains in act 3. maybe i should switch my fist of thunders rune from thunderclap to lightning and get even more dodge
