Hey so anyone know the minimum stats i should be hitting to switch to a dual wield build?
eg: 2.0 atk spd, 600 res, 7k armor etc etc?

It just means that people who geared for super high mitigation instead of balancing out with DPS will have to rethink their gear a bit.

That's really the part of this change that leaves an incredibly bad taste for me (and for most people I think).  It's the fact that this change will in fact force people to regear to become as effective as they used to be, but we're not getting anything in the way of compensation to allow us to do that.  It makes it incredibly difficult to argue against the sentiment that Blizz is nerfing stuff so that people will spend money on the RMAH -- regardless of whether this is truly an intention of theirs or not, it's impossible to argue against the notion that some people will in fact turn to the RMAH to expedite the incredibly painful and expensive process of regearing.

As for my part, since I refuse to spend any money on this game and since I've already beaten Inferno before the patch, if the game stops being fun for whatever reason, I'll be more inclined to just move on.

Me too. I think gear progression was broke, not the difficulty.

Effective HP is all that matters really

60k hp low res low armor <<<< 30k hp 1000 res 10000 armor :)

stolen from reddit:

- check the grid for your armor/resist, and multiply your life with the number from grid. That's effective hp.

Also there is %dmg reduction and %dmg reduction from elites... not sure where it applies, first or last, and there is also block amount, again not sure when it applies.

Ive had a setup like this on our first inferno diablo kill, ive had about over 30% dmg reduction 1030 res all unbuffed. It was really annoying not having damage or being able to solo, so i talked to Niel (btw he has 58k dps). He pretty much said, monks should focus on damage overall, and with this new patch i still have my 21k dps unbuffed with my tanking gear and 30k unbuffed with my dps gear. Mobs hit me for 3k, and i go through them like its a joke now, maybe monks shouldn't be all that tanky?

i only played my monk as tanky when i was forced to for progression sake. i absolutely hate using a shield and the damn deadly reach keen eye bull shit. not the playstyle i enjoy whatsoever, so i'm very happy with the changes

Not completely useless, but you definitely need to augment it with some more meaningful damage stats. Dual wielding 1.40 weapons and having ~30 ASI puts you above 2 attacks per sec, which still is a nice place to be.

Chances are that you'll be swapping out defensive pieces (again, shield will be the first to go) for a more offensive setup.
