- LOH is awesome, I don't know what you're talking about it is useless. If you have over 1000 LOH with a decent attack speed, it allows you to tank pretty much any single target in the game, and most of the time 2-3 elites as well as long as you aren't standing in fire or poison. I haven't gone all out on LOH, but I would imagine on a super high budget, 2000 LOH with high attack speed would mean you could tank any and all elite mobs.

- Dual weapon is awesome if you have a super high budget, but if you have 10 million or less to spend on your monk, i'd definitely suggest a shield. It's a far cheaper way to make a viable Monk for Act 3/4

The only advantage of dual-wielding besides the 0.15 bonus ASI (which is indirectly buffed by the ASI nerf next patch) is that it's the only way to reach astronomical levels of LoH. 2 900+ LoH fists already puts you at 1800...

I think it's fairly viable, but again, is ridiculously expensive. Then again, Stormshields are getting pretty ridic in price lately too...

My current solo tank build for act3+, all unbuffed. I currently have 600 life on hit with this build and 64k hp. Can clear everything, besides certain inv. mobs >.<

My high dps build is just a weapon swap, need a better wep overall for sure. Still all unbuffed. I have 51k hp with this build.

decided to post these before ias nerf ;(

Personally, I find total life to be the least important thing on a Monk. I do just fine with 33k total life. It's not the lack of life for me that makes things hard in Act 4. It's the fact that I just don't do enough damage ( 16k ). If I had 36k damage like you, more then double my own, i'd walk through the game with no trouble at all with my normal 33k life.

GG monk though. I hope it still looks as good tomorrow. GL

Effective HP is all that matters really

60k hp low res low armor <<<< 30k hp 1000 res 10000 armor :)

stolen from reddit:

- check the grid for your armor/resist, and multiply your life with the number from grid. That's effective hp.

Also there is %dmg reduction and %dmg reduction from elites... not sure where it applies, first or last, and there is also block amount, again not sure when it applies.

uhh find your res to the left and armor on top
follow the row/column until they meet in one cell, that's the number you need

if you have e.g. 650 res/6500 armor check numbers corresponding to 600/6000 and 700/7000 and average them
