I don't think this is the intent. They just want to make IAS more on par with other stats. It will still be very strong and desirable, it just won't be worth a ridiculous amount. Just as armor and resists are equally important, so will be dexterity, IAS, and crit, for example.
Well, I'm being very pessimistic, so I can understand you disagreeing.
I just think that people invested lots of gold or money in some really good items with high attack speed, just so they could balance out their other stats on different slots. Now, they won't be at the breakpoint they were, and will have to look at getting more attack speed, which may or may not come at a tradeoff. If thats the case, and some sacrifices are made, would that make the character less viable? Granted they're nerfing inferno, and that might make it viable, but I don't agree with nerfing inferno either. Inferno is a gear check first, and then it all comes down to spec / skill. If you don't have the gear, you don't progress. The problem is that gear progression between A1 and A2, in my opinion sucks, and you're almost always forced to pick up stuff off of the AH to "over gear" for the act you're having problems with. Then we come to the prices... I don't think that argument is relevant here...
We don't know. We won't know until it comes out. I'll reserve my judgment until then. But I do have concerns.
