show me items that has high crit dmg/crit% as well as all the stats (main stat/vit/ias/regen) with the SAME numbers. they're either outrageously rare or non-existant.

from what I've seen (all the people in this thread are geared decently btw), there isnt a single item with all the stats you've mentioned. rings either have high avg dmg/stat/vit/ias/1os or lower stats/missing stat for 1.5% crit chance and 15% crit dmg. now if you consider this as a fair trade, go for it mate, but like i said, you dont want to sacrifice your stats for crit. the amounts are too low and the cost too high.

highest amount of crit% you can get on 1 item is 3.5 and crit dmg is 30%. and the only ones ive seen with that amount are all trash. most have 1%-1.5% / 15% dmg. if every single one of your gears that can spawn with it do, you'll gain a superb amount of (1.5x7 +15%x5) = addtional 7.5 crit % with 45% crit dmg (up from 5%/50% base). so ya, you barely double your crit stats at the cost of a very high amount of attribute points... if you do find an item with crit as well as all the other more important stats, go for it but its delusional to just assume all the gears will spawn with everything on them...

if you search for a rare with 2 stat affix, you could probably go as high as 70/70, but as soon as you add in a third, let alone a 4th affix in it, it drops to 30-40 tops. welcome to the laws of probability my friend.

TLDR is all tiers.

But yes like most of us agree, no final rule-sets should be put in place until we can all test the builds and gear options simultaneously (after the patch).

all teirs of gems would turn lld into the unbalanced hld witch is 100% what we dont want.

not necessarely, i think flawless square is a good place to start, we cant say anything for sure until 1.07 actually hits, theres still alot of bugs and its only a ptr, buy the time it hits, blizzard could have done some changes, and we MAY need the higher tier gems. for example a 1000loh gem, after a pvp penalty may only be a 100loh gem/ and after dr and all the other things, may be a 50 loh gem.

The issue with HLD right now, is no one had any reason to gear for pvp, so everyone geared paying very little attention to life, block,dodge or anything else, in the following months you will see peoples geaqr change dramastically, and there will be less 1 shotting going on.

This thread is really for establishing some GM ground rules for 1.07 actually hits, until the live patch hits, and we have bin at this for a few weeeks, its all speculation, who knows we may need the boost from the gems if they do implement penalites, or itll be throwing rocks at a rhino.

TLDR version:
we cant be sure of anything, this thread is really just trying to set some ground rules, GM rules for pvp evolve and change with a game.

yah, the good thing about it, is liek i said, the rules arent set in stone and can always be changed.

this would make tankier chars with amethysts more tankier and chars that work better with dmg gems would get more dmg. i it might work better if we did use higher tier gems(stars imo), because it would bring more char diversity by changing from life to dmg gem wise and each gem would matter more with whether your char is more tanky or class cannon.

not sure if it would be better balance wise before testing with that pvp dr they promised, just saying that it might be better for build diversity, if it doesent effect too much ofc and make it imbalanced.

i mean stars arent THAT expensive, other gear costs pretty much as much if not more if you cant get a good deal for items

yeah but at lvl 30 where are you going to get dr?

my current dr is 45-50%, it comes in the form of ur defensive stats, which gets larger the more stats u have at that level.
Also if blizzard puts in a 50% + damage reduction, duels will take a very long time, and we may need stars or w/e for the extra dmg,
I think gems right now is just one of those things we will have to wait, and test out as of right now its primarely all specualation, and all we are trying to do is setup a base.
