a lot of people shit on D3 because of their nostalgic love for D2, when in reality D2 was only good because at the time of its release there was no other game like it. D3 is WAY better than D2
in some ways yes in some ways no
diablo 2 classic itemization was alright, very basic but had a bit of fun variety
diablo 2 expansion introduced elite tier uniques and runewords and crafted items which made having the rest basically pointless
diablo 2 classic pvp had massive flaws and amazon was 100% worthless in pve and pvp post expansion
diablo 2 expansion pvp was either a telestomp match or(yeah right like anyone didn't bring teleport...)
diablo 2 had alot of server sync issues which made crashing games/duping etc a big problem, and it was a very big problem that killed off a majority of the playerbase
diablo 2 had a huge community of hackers and exploiters making real money off of the game and ruining the fun for others, which once it became widely available killed the games already dwindling population
literally no one can say diablo 2 is as good as it used to be, there was no better fun than playing in a community where hacking/botting etc wasn't running the entire show
diablo 3 has a better engine, better graphics, better possibilities(but they will obviously never fix the core engines flaws so the game will forever be lackluster)
diablo 3 has NO pvp and NO dedicated team working on making pvp happen(this is 100% due to the core engines flaws that they have no interest in fixing)
diablo 3 has no economy, it was done away with and what economy it had prior to that was ran by real money and was an absolute waste of time
diablo 3 endgame is literally fishing greater rifts for hours on end and exploiting flaws in the current itemization/engine flaws etc
when i look back to the diablo franchise, the only thing i'll take from this all is diablo 2 WAS fun, and diablo 3 WAS bearable for a time
but NEITHER game deserves any sort of awards, neither game was a new concept, neither game broke any sort of boundaries for the genre
