Within using all my cooldowns I can kill at least 1 elite mob before potentially dying if i can't get away, even the vortex/jailor mobs. 12.8k unbuffed dps.

1. Breath of heaven - increased damage rune
2. Serenity - healing rune
3. seven sided strike - increased damage rune
4. mantra of conviction - increased damage rune
left click. thousand fists w/ spirit generator rune
right click. crippling wave w/ dmg reduction rune (for tanking packs of normal mobs)

I'm currently pursing as much +life on hit as possible.. i have 444 right now just from my weapon. You can gain these bonus's from other gear as well. I'm wondering what the max would be.. maybe 2k would be godly?

Passives.
1. 100% dext to armor
2. highest res becomes all res
3. 16% damage increase from casting direct heals

This isn't the optimal damage build possible but it's very deadly and gives me enough survivability to roll through act1 inferno and kill things faster before they kill me essentially.
I'm considering swapping out my damage passive for dw dodge.. but i do a fair amount of kiting and try to avoid hits as much as possible so i feel it would negate the effectiveness of being a damage build.


i realized this about an hour ago too my friend. alas, i'm not even home to try it out. just been reading and playing around with skill calculators. do that AND use the dodge mantra.
i am going to try evasion mantra with the BACKLASH rune that gives you an 35% weapon damage AREA OF EFFECT ON EACH DODGE. that's going to be sooo much damage in large packs of enemies!

hmm? interesting.. let me know how that mantra and rune work out.

Edit: just read the rune maybe i understood what you were saying wrong.. i thought every dodge buffs you with 35% dmg.. still interested to see how that works out, i usually don't have any issues in packs of mobs.

why not just use another one hander and use the guardians path passive (15% dodge w/ dual wield). when you dodge you take 0 damage.
not to mention the obvious dps increase.

IMO, monks aren't supposed to be using shields.


1 - hard to find a weapon good enough to beat a shield with dex
2 - dodge doesn't stack super well, the 15% won't give you all that much
3 - With no block, on the attacks you don't dodge, there is 0% chance to reduce the damage so if you get unlucky with dodge you take a lot more damage

Been saying this all this time and you guys wouldnt believe me :). Its easier to get a decent shield than a decent off hand weapon tho...
Maybe if I stopped spending money on crafting gems and upping my artisans (2 upgrades away from 10 lol)...

What ive been wondering lately is the dodge increase by 1/3rd of crit chance. If you manage to get a decent crit chance it might be really interesting. Im only at 16% atm tho :s. Might work to get you over the magic 60% dodge semi permanently (without the imo lame dodge rune in cyclone strike)..

Another thing tho, is it only me, or are there some attacks that cannot be dodged? Yesterday I was messing around in act2, those guys with the glowing-mace attack (pain mongers?) aoways managed to hit me with their power attack.. maybe im just unlucky?
Blocking with a shiled doesnt help much, its way over 40k damage obviously lol

If thats correct then shield block is really useless.. too low block amount for inferno lolo :)

yeah. those are the same attacks that go through serinity.

need some tipps for monk plz

i get completly grounded on inferno a2,

i used to play with the mantra of healing+abs, but even with that build i got no chance

what is the most important part to push?

armor? res? dps? life?

atm i got ~4k armor, 150+all res, around 13k unbuffed dps and 42k life
