There are multiple viable builds. Yes some builds are specific for high GR pushing, others are for the other experiences you can have in game. Not everyone grinds for the same thing.

Let's use a D2 example, take the best sorc build for grushing. Now take someone having fun with a bear sorc build for pvping. It wouldn't be as viable for the bear sorc to grush, but that build provides a different experience doing something different on the game. Any game with multiple characters featuring multiple builds with multiple in game content, includes variety.

Leaderboards in D3 show GR competition, but it doesn't show all the other players and characters having fun with another experience.

lol d3 has no end game content, thats why they added shallow and thoughtless endless scaling in the form of GRS, and just double the set bonuses every patch
