Diablo 3 is casual.
People pay Activision money to play a casual game.
People have phones.

Why wouldn’t they make d3 mobile?

The app will do great. Activision knows this. The diablo 3 fans for some reason are pretending they are hardcore gamers or something lmao. The whole situation is a joke to me.

App will do great? Will it recupe 10b dollars? Game is t even released and it failed already

they already kinda have. although not 100% specifics.

in the Q&A day 2 session a guy asked about trading, and cited how "bad" the D3 real money AH was, but then how much worse trading got when everything was soulbound gear. and then wrapped it up by comparing it to D2, where "the company struggled for years to shut down 3rd party sellers", his words not mine. i agree they struggled, i just disagree it's an issue.

well the answer basically wen't something like this, and im just parapgrasing:

"in diablo 2 trading lead to lots of 3rd party sales, and that was bad bad bad, so we want to avoid that. In d3 the rmah was bad bad bad, because it got abused and was hard to police plus a GM ticket nightmare. so bad bad bad. then in d3 we made a system where you could trade some items, like gems. so lets say you have 20 rubies and i have 20 emeralds. since the horidric cube has a recipe to convert gem types two players trading isn't problematic. because the gain is only negligible, only a small number of meanial crafting materials have been avoided. so that's an example of good trade, and we're going to try and emulate that model"

tl;dr / translation:

when two players trade, because there isn't a medium to use as an exchance like valuable gold or something, one player can take advantage of another player. i can trade you a soj for a pair of mages, because i really want a pair of mages, but you basically just took advantage of me. and by making items tradeable, blizzard stands to allow 3rd party sites to make money. so translation, there will be next to zero economy. blizzard thinks trading red gems for green gems in equal number is the height of good gameplay. its odd and i fucking hate them.

They don't need to provide any guided trade for a traditional diablo game like D2/D3. That should be left up to the players/third party sites as we've already bought the $60.00 box and will buy subsequent expansions/DLCs.

I didn't mind the auction house that much, although i really didn't use it too much aside from selling gear for real $$$. I never played the flip game BUT people liked doing that. Blizzard should have left the AH as is, maybe lower the % they take off the top.

Blizzard HAS TO monetize immortal someway because it's a freemium piece of shit. They'll paywall the fuck out of players with resources/crafting/instance money ETC. This isn't going to be your traditional D2/D3 where you can access all game modes at any time and grind away. They'll have major events require some time of admittance currency that's hard to come by but conveniently accessible with real $$$. Or rare crafting mats to juice up your stupid axe, ETC.

I imagine they'll have energy timers that'll force players to log on at certian times to claim the free energy. It'll be disgusting..... I can't wait.

Idk if it's still floating around but im pretty sure blizzard released something when they took AH away saying something like 30-40% of the community had stopped logging in to the game and were simply playing the AH. They had a big beef with that apparently but i can't see them re-releasing AH unless blizzard is 100% comfortable letting people trade away their days while taking a % cut

my guess is they'll make it a $$ for gold model. then let people spend the gold on items. and you'll of course be free to grind out 5$ of gold over 10 or so hours of straight playing.

that will lead to people spending gold to buy soulbound items and prevent 3rd party shit.

blizz somehow thinks that hack and slash is what made the game popular. there was an idiot in the strat/guides section who was equally stupid, claimed the economy wasn't what made d2 popular and claimed people liked to for the pvm repetitive aspects. its all economy, its all wealth acquisition, etc. that's what people want.
