That is a good question. I think it is because Japan (Maghda) very strongly values their own culture, yet constantly find themselves assailed by other cultures (this is represented by the player), and they feel like they are loosing themselves. So they get offended (her bubble shield), and hate foreigners, all the while slowly succumbing to their culture and losing their own (this is shown by how she keep trying to summon minions, a metaphor for Japanese culture, but they keep disappearing and she drop her shield, absorbing the new ideas, and loosing their own.)
