What turns me off about D3 is how badly they stripped the core values out of Diablo 2. In D2, character customization was everything. You could distribute stats and skills however you like and have completely different builds for each character. For example, I could have a javazon and she would obviously be totally different than a bowazon even though they are amazons. In D3, every character is basically stuck into a linear progression. Itemization feels the same way; every item must have the same stats (+crit dmg, +crit chance, +Vitality, +main attribute). I am personally okay with the removal of runewords and charms, but there was nothing to replace them with other than underwhelming "legendaries."
i kind of agree to alot of that because I was also let down by how different d3 felt than d2, they didnt do a great job keeping the core values of the game. although people still had cookie cutter builds in d2 that were considered "the proper way" to build that character.
my darts wd plays completely different than my helltooth wd.
they have different stat priorities.
my ww barb is completely different than my hota barb etc.
with that being said d2 is a better game imo. but if you want to just hulk smash monsters d3 is pretty sweet.
people say its pointless because you grind to get better gear so you can grind faster to get better gear blah blah
but how is that any different than any other game where you have to grind gear? other than the pvp aspect ofc.
poe feels more like d3 to me than d3 does, and i think blizzard would have been better off not making it part of the diablo franchise, because honestly d2 set the bar very high.
but i dont regret the money that ive spent on the game, and id buy an expac if they came out with one. I wont be expecting it to be the best game to ever exist but ive never played a game by blizz that i thought was complete garbage.
anyone who complains about d3 is just upset because they wanted it to be better than d2 and it wasnt.
im upset about it too, but im not a whiney baby who cries every time i dont get my way.
if you want a game better than d2, youre going to have to make your own, because one doesnt exist.
i would like to see charms, or skill trees or something in d3 though. i think it would help get a little bit of that d2 feel back.
but in a perfect world they would just make a d4, and have it be an updated d2, and we all wouldnt even have to have this convo
